Questions & Answers

21 Customer Questions

We have noticed that as we get to the bottom of a 24-lb bag, the dog loses interest in the food unless we add toppers and the like. Others have noted the same. Is that because the food loses flavor/aroma as time goes on? It is stored in an airtight dog food container. Any suggestions
Answer by IstiaOct 09, 2023
Nope

Is this suitable for large breed puppies?
Answer by ChewyApr 02, 2020
Pro Plan Puppy Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon & Rice Formula is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages, including growth of large sized dogs (70 pounds or more as an adult).

How much exactly do we feed? The guideline on the back says "weight at maturity", so are we to feed the amount based on what they are supposed to weigh as adults? If that is the case I would be feeding almost 4 cups at a min. That seems like a lot since each cup is 428kcal.
Answer by ChewyJan 18, 2021
Please click on the attached photo to reference the full feeding chart. It is based upon pet weight at maturity as well as age. This feeding chart is a general recommendation. It can be adjusted for your specific pet when also taking into account their age, activity level, etc. If you are uncertain of the amount, you can always consult with your veterinarian.

Would it be okay to switch between the lamb and salmon flavors of this food without transitioning, or are the recipes different enough that this would cause digestive upset?
Answer by ChewyApr 22, 2020
It is recommended to transition between formulas for 7-10 days to prevent digestive upset.

Damaged bag

Delivered on time, but the bag was damaged and open. I noticed some kibbles on the shipment box, and on examining the package found out that it was torn open on one side. I want to believe it was damaged while being shipped, but I don’t want to take a chance with my dog’s food.

Bad batch! Trip to ER!

Just like others have shared, something is wrong with the latest batch of this food in the puppy and adults formula. After feeding our puppy this latest order of food, shipped October 4, she had to go to the ER. Didn't realize it was the food until we tried to get her back on regular food, every time we started to add in this food, she got diarrhea. This is a major issue with the latest shipments of this food.

Finally, food that cured my 7 month old Golden Retriever's diarrhea!

My puppy has a very sensitive stomach and in the 5 months I've had him, he's been to the vet multiple times with diarrhea. He didn't do well with Royal Canin puppy food and even had trouble with Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care. He's finally stabilized on Pro Plan Puppy Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon & Rice.

Couldnt help me with problem

My dog is on a verinary diet and I ordered two foods. One shows authorization approved but waiting for the second. I asked if they can contact the vet again and couldn't answer that. I ended chat. My dog will be out of food.

loose stool issues

My picky eater 5 month old puppy finally loves a food that lines up with my ingredient wishes! BUT, I find he’s having the same loose stool issues after a 3 week transition to this food. Does purina have any answers to this? I’ll keep feeding my pup at the moment because it’s most important that he actually eats, but this food makes potty training difficult - no accidents or loose stool until we fully switched to this food, now we have accidents every night

Finally a food Barney loves and I trust

My pup is allergic to chicken. It became quite the challenge to find a puppy food I trusted with options other than chicken. Finally Chewys excellent customer service rep and I sifted through puppy foods and finally landed on this. My Barney, A Tzu, who is fussy, absolutely loves this. I love the benefits of all the carefully thought out ingredients. I can use this kibble as a treat in his new interactive toy, as well as meals. Thx for taking a load of stress out of my life.

Definitely satisfied!!!!!

We brought home our pup and I immediately switched her over to BB brand food (slowly introduced it of course) We had always used BB for our previous dog without any issues. It was just what we knew to use. Unfortunately, our pup had a great deal of trouble when going to the bathroom. She would go multiple times, starting off solid but then it would be very loose. After a few weeks (I thought maybe she was just adjusting) and after some research, we decided to switch to Purina for sensitive stomachs….and so happy we did! She had immediate relief (once she was fully over to Purina) and we have had wonderful dog poops since then! (Yes, we were excited about solid dog pops!) It worked for her belly and I would highly recommend trying this if your puppy has issues digesting their food.

Great for Huskies

Our husky had diarrhea for months on end. We tried so many different foods and nothing was working. Then we switched to this product and has had formed stools since. She has the most sensitive stomach and this has been a game changer. She’s finally bulking up and has the shiniest coat. I defintely recommend!

Puppy food causing diarrhea

I agree with the previous comment. It was constant problem with my pup every single day he had diarrhea since we switched to adult food it stopped. Something is wrong because during the first year he was on it and he was fine.

Easy pick for dog food

My pup loves this food, helps with scratching and itching after eating. His fur/coat is soft but skin still feels dry I have been using for w months now.
