Puppies start to nibble solid foods at 3 - 4 weeks of age. Keep moistened Pro Plan available at all times.
Allow your puppy to eat at will until fully weaned (6 - 8 weeks). After weaning, Pro Plan can be fed moistened or dry.
For best results, develop a regular feeding schedule such as three small meals a day for younger puppies. You can gradually reduce to one feeding in the morning and one in the evening as your puppy ages. The routine should not vary.
As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may drop, and your puppy may begin leaving some food in the bowl. Don't misinterpret this as an indication of dislike for the food. Instead, begin offering less so your puppy doesn't overeat and stays in ideal body condition. Nestle Purina Research indicates that avoiding overfeeding of puppies may help their development. Maintaining ideal body condition is key to encouraging proper growth in all puppies, especially large breeds. The indicated amounts are only a guideline. If your puppy becomes overweight, a reduction of your puppy's daily food intake may be appropriate. You may wish to consult your veterinarian about a weight control program.
FEEDING FOR REPRODUCTION Pro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's ideal body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.
Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.
Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

I wasn’t going to write a review but since starting this bag he started having a ton of health problems. It started with diarrhea a week later he had a swollen lymph node. It’s been 2 months, thousands of dollars spent at the vet, many tears since starting this food, and only after switching the food have we seen improvement. I’m not sure what happened with this food but I switched over to royal canine. For more context A month after the swelling started the vet prescribed steroids to stop the inflammation because it had the potential to block his breathing tubes. The steroids helped and the swelling went down. A few weeks later the swelling started up again. The only change has been this food and over 15k has been spent on testing including ct scans, pokes, all types of lab testing and no actual sickness found.
Not sure what happened to this formula, but he’s had severe diarrhea since September due to this food. Been to two vets, two different medications just to get his belly back to normal. He’s been on this food his whole life, now all of a sudden? We are switching foods.
Tried a small bag at first, my lil shih-poo loved it. Transitioned over to the royal canin puppy/chiot - small bag just to try and my shih-poo was not a fan. We transitioned back to Purina Pro Plan & got the bigger bag this time. We haven’t had a single problem with it. Normal stool. Happy pup. Why fix something that isn’t broken? Had to come back it.
I ordered my first Purina pro Puppy food for my GSD Puppy. He loves it. Also thank you for the Chewy Cap and Ball that Storm loves playing with. I will definitely be ordering from Chewy again when I get low on Puppy food.
Miller loves his food. He’s a 9.5 week old chocolate lab and loves his food. All of our labs through the years have been on Purina foods and done great! No issues :)
Unfortunately, ever since we switched my puppy to this food, he has been throwing up regularly and not eating his meals consistently. For a while, I thought it was the grass he was eating in our yard, but I’ve been watching him closely and preventing him from eating grass. We are still having problems. It’s a bummer because I bought a large bag. What a waste..
I have always fed my dogs Purina proplan and never had an issue.. until I got this bag and my puppy became extremely ill. Plenty of vet calls and visits and we narrowed it down to this bag being the source. I still love this brand and I’m very understanding but when it comes to a new puppy this was scary.
This was our first 32lb bag of food. I was getting the 18lb bag. My 8 month old puppy got the runs and vomiting as soon as I opened this bag of food. $400 later and eating rice and chicken, he started back on the food. The runs started again so throwing it away - ugh. Switching to another food. I have heard other puppies having the same issue so they may have an issue.
We just adopted a 3 month old puppy who came to us on a diet that included this food. We’ve kept her on it and she loves it, especially the little dried pieces of shredded chicken. Chewy had the best price around and using auto-ship makes the food a little more affordable. Shipping was fast and free, no complaints!
Show dogs to just house dogs this has been a favorite brand I wish the cost wasn’t so high and the size of bag keeps getting smaller . I guess inflation is just taking over our land
