Ideal For Dogs Coming Off Trauma
We just moved to CA and Reese (our 18 month old rescue) had an allergic reaction to a bee sting + ate rhododendrons. We needed something more gentle (vs her usual Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice) -- and used variants of this food with a wet food version of this with and now, without rice. Bottom line is that it worked. Reese is steadily gaining the 6 lbs (of her originial 46) or so she lost and has her usual spunk back. The food is pricey but worth it. I don't know how we are going to go back to her usual food now.
My coonhound has a very sensitive tummy and she has been eating science diet for years. With wanting to give her a little variety I decided to try a small bag of this Purina, I was very surprised a product with “turkey and oatmeal” flavor smelled like dead fish! I am sure it has good nutrition, but her nor I could get past the smell.
It's a hit!
I was admittedly a boutique food snob (I'm recovering) with the Nutritional DCM concern, I wanted to switch my dogs to a food that meets WSAVA guidelines. One of my dogs is always itchy and has a sensitive stomach, so I decided to try the PPP SSS line. While it's too early to tell if this will help his itching (I think it's environmental, rather than food related.) I will say that both dogs love the turkey flavor, have well formed stool, and the itchy dog who, while always had formed stools, it always smelled PUTRID. Not any more!! That alone is enough for me to stick with this food!
Dog loved this, but developed flatulence
I am wondering if the turkey is the cause of the flatulence? I have some Nutro Ultra the dog used to love, but the large pieces are hard for her to chew. I will see if a change of kibbles on her canned food makes a difference in her smells. The small pieces in the Purina Pro Plan are good for seniors with few teeth
Great for Stomach and scratching issue
This is a great dog food for skin/coat issues as well as dogs that tend to spit up. My shepherds coat looks great and aren't scratching or spitting up.
Dogs Love It!
My two pittie mutts love this food. One has some gastric sensitivities that result in reflux, and the other has itchy skin and often "wet" stool. This food has worked wonderfully for them. They like the flavor, and it has helped tremendously with their issues. Worked a lot better than Science Diet, and I'm glad that this line finally has a "Sensitive" food that's not salmon.
So far so good
My dog has a very sensitive stomach. Where a normal dog could change foods within a week or 1 1/2. It takes my dog at least 3 weeks to change dog foods, but she seems to be doing good on this food. And she likes it.
Great Quality Dog Food
I have always thought highly of the Purina Pro Plan. My dog was having some skin and stomach issues and has not had any since changing her food to Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach. It has clean and healthy ingredients and is also highly recommended by vets!
My dogs did not like this flavor
Purina Proplan has been recommended by my Veterinarian because of the contents and the way it is processed. My dogs like most of the flavors, but I hadnt tried this one before. They did not like it even when I put bone broth on it. I will have to go back to the lamb or salmon. Price wise it's a good price for the size of the bag. I have two large rescues.
Working for now
My Maltese /Yorkie will not eat anything she wants my food. She was with a different lady for her first 6 months and she feed her table food. I bought her and put on puppy food. I spend lots of money and she was so picky. Neither one of my dogs liked the Blue Buffalo because of the little brown pieces, but I did put them on different brand Purina Pro shredded Liver flavor which the both liked, but I had to put the topper on it and was to expensive for me. I just tried the Pro Plan Turkey flavor and they have a turkey flavored topper that is inexpensive so I put a little in a colander run warm water to soften them cause they are freeze dried. I't been a week now and Maddie seems to like it. Thank you Chewy for being patient with my fur baby. I am crossing my fingers this works. Fixing the food is so much easier on me too. Been with Chewy over 10 years now and will not go anywhere else. Your awesome !!!
