MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.
My plan to slowly transition from the old "crunchies" to this kind went out the window when I spilled this one all over the floor trying to pour it into another container to keep it fresher longer...Oops. I let Ivy, my 20 lb terrier mix who can be picky with food at times, help me clean it up. Even with all the reviews about picky dogs LOVING this food, I was worried she wouldn't like it. Well, that worry went out the window too...WOW! She LOVED it!! So much so that the slow transition over 10 days from the old food had to be aborted completely, b/c she just picked out "the new yummy kind" and totally rejected the food she had been eating without an issue for a long time. "I'm not eating THAT. Gross Mom!" I had also been mixing in a spoonful of "Doggy Veggie Mush" (various concoctions of veggies I put together, steam, and mash up) into her food and she loved it! ....Until the new food came. It took me a few days, but I finally figured out the issue... "Veggie mush is yummy and so is the new food but when you mix them together it makes the yummy food not yummy anymore." Got it, pup. No problem. She now has multi-course meals (or just a veggie mush snack at some point). She used to turn up her nose at plain "crunchies" w/o some canned food mixed in -- "or at least a little water for gravies, sheesh mom!" But Pro Plan is just delicious even plain and spilled all over the floor. "Thanks, Mom! Thanks, Purina!" And that's the story of Ivy and her new yummy food. (And The Kitty Boyzes love their Pro Plan food too and have for years, but thanks for asking. :)
I have 4 dogs and my 18 and 20 lb ones pick at it a little and pick out the beef pieces and I have a 78lb dog who loves it and prefers it over her food which is the same food except the bigger size pieces. I probably won't order it again because I'm trying to find one they all like.
This food was recommended by my Veterinarian for my small dog. She loves the taste, and it has all of the nutrients she needs.
I have always used Purina products....I have had many animals over many years and trusted Purina for all of them...I started with the chicken and rice and i tried the beef and my dogs love it
I was referred to Purina Pro Plan by a vet. Reluctantly, I decided to try it. I wanted a healthier option for my two dogs - one of which is a little overweight and the other which is the world's most pickiest eater. Even when offered a bite of table food, she rarely takes it unless it is meat. I have tried other dog foods, which were supposed to be meaty, but she just turned her nose up at them. To date, this is the only dry dog food she will eat. And this is definitely the last stop for me - I won't switch to any other brand.
I did some major research for a dog food my 10 year old chiweenie and 8 year old chihuahua would like and after reading up on this brand I finally bought it. I can’t believe that both my babies especially the chiweenie who is super picky actually likes this food and gobbles it right up! The small kibbles are just the right size for them and the meaty soft pieces I believe are their favorite part. If you have a senior dog that really doesn’t eat much anymore-try this brand. I’m very satisfied with the results!
I have been trying different kinds of dog food for a very long time, ThankYou Purina Pro Plan, she really loves it. Yahoo!
Shredded portions are non-existent. Have purchased in the past and realize there is far more kibble than shredded pieces. Usually several for every cup; however, this bag has maybe one shredded piece for one cup full.
I have used Purina Pro Plan since my two Frenchies were babies. I have been able to switch between Pro Plan products easily and without fuss as they have grown. I had been having issues with some food sensitivity and loose bowel movements. I switched to this formula and all is right in our Frenchie world.
Bean the Boston terrier rated this food a 10/10 she highly recommends.
