My rescue dog has has really sensitive stomach and soft stool for over a year. I’ve tried different kinds of food and probiotics but nothing seemed to make it better. A vet recommended Pro plan so I decided to give this one a try! Holy poop balls it made a big difference. I can actually pick up her poop now and she loves the food. Best switch I’ve ever made. I’m definitely staying with this food!!!!
My dog has been eating this brand for over a year , and she’s not a picky eater but I opened a new bag and she wouldn’t eat it , I don’t know why but that’s the only change is a new bag of food . So after a week of not eatting unless i doctored it with something because she had no problem eating snacks ( not a tooth or tummy problem) so I bought her a different brand and she was HAPPY to eat !
Per Vet recommendation, I gave my dog one can of the pro plan food and she had violent diarrhea for 4 days. We didn’t even open the dry food. Thankfully, Chewy has an excellent return policy and great customer service! We’re back on Orijen and back to normal. Phew!
Our 8-month-old puppy has eaten this exact formulation since he started eating food. Typically, he scarfed his food down so quickly that I bought him a slow-feeder bowl. Recently, he was highly put off by his food and would only eat it if I put something on it. I called Chewy wondering if there was a recall. There was not and Chewy was nice enough to send me another bag to see if something was off. That was not it. I stayed in touch with our breeder and I am in a Facebook group with other owners from the same breeder. 3 other dogs have experienced the same exact recent dislike and refusal for PPP Salmon and Rice. There must be a change in the formulation. I just purchased a bag of Fromm food (sadly not sold by Chewy) and our pup scarfed it down like the good ole days!
Reese may not be as active and athletic as he used to be, but he is still a pretty fit senior. There have been lots of changes as he's aged, including losing hair on his tail and getting a bit thin. This diet keeps his body condition in tip top shape. There is no questioning the difference this diet makes. His coat is also very bright, red and shiny! This diet keeps weight on him and good muscle tone. I feed the same diet to his wife-dog, who is twice the size. I give her the same portion size, since she does not burn calories like he does. We LOVE this food and are so happy that it keeps my old man healthy.
I've been trying to find food that will work for our boxers. We like RC Boxer, but were hoping to find another food that wasn't so expensive. So I purchased two small bags of this hoping that would be enough food to determine if our pups liked it. The good part, they both seemed to enjoy the flavor, the bad part was one of our boxers started projectile vomiting within 30 minutes of eating the food. It was the only change and it happened so quickly. He vomited a total of eight more times before he finally stopped. This was after one feeding. Not sure if something was wrong with just this bag, it was sealed and didn't have any holes in it. But I won't be feeding the second bag either. I plan on contacting Purina directly as well. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this food.
My Australian Cattle Dog Mix needed to switch to salmon food due to ear infections since an allergy may have been the culprit. I'm really not sure about this one. We feed her to the amounts directed on the box and she wakes up in the middle of the night with her tummy rumbling and gagging/puking from hunger. She is a bit active (she goes on sprint marathons in the yard), but we had to opt for the performance since others were out of stock at the time. She also sniffs it with a questioning glance as if she doesn't really want to eat it and she is a dog that LOVES her meal time. Her poops are also super firm, so we needed to add some pumpkin puree or something to loosen up the stools. We almost took her to the vet due to the puking... So we are switch to the normal salmon and rice blend. It sucks because we bought two large bags so that was a waste of money.
Decided to possibly switch my GSPs from chicken to salmon Purina. So far they are doing very good eating the new fish Purina!
Been using Pro plan sport for two years now, whether it be chicken or salmon. My dogs love it. My four year old Dutch shepherd, 8 month old standard poodle, and two 8 week old Golden retrievers thrive on it. All dogs are healthy, active, and I add in extra salmon oil on top for their coats. Their coats have never been shinier. My poodle has a sensitive stomach to chicken, and we made the switch to salmon!
So far so good! Transitioning to this food slowly and the dogs love and no digestive upsets thus far!
