My cat likes the cat food and it has been helping her diabetes, but we waste a lot of the food because she will only eat it when it is first opened. I could get about 4 servings per can, but once it's been refridgerated, she will not eat it again. I've tried warming it in the microwave or just leaving it out on the counter beforehand, but neither works. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Otherwise, I am hoping that the company could make smaller sizes similar to the Sheba cat food portions.
My boy kitty was recently diagnosed diabetic. He was hospitalized for five days, and has lost a lot of weight. He is on insulin now and recovering. He was also prescribed two different meds to increase appetite. Even with meds, he still won't eat more than 1/4-1/5 of a can in each feeding. I can't tell if it is because he doesn't like the food, or because of his illness. It also is giving my other cat runny poops.
I tried this, hoping my cat would like it, since she was diagnosed with diabetes, but she threw up both the hard and soft food immediately. She did, however, like the Royal Canin.
The chunky version of this was well accepted by our cats so I bought the ground up version thinking it might be easier for them to eat. But all three turned their noses up at it. I'll stick with the chunky version from now on.
I'm giving this food 3 stars because my diabetic cat ate it for the first couple of days but now won't eat it.
Delivery is way fantastic, only concern that we have is that the product is getting to expensive for our Patrick..
We have been serving this product to our cat for several years. She has diabetes and is otherwise pretty healthy. The only complaint I have had about this product is that the cans are so thin that they dent easily and have actually leaked as a result. Purina seems to be addressing this with thicker metal cans. We alternate this product with others just for variety, but you may want to discuss that with your vet.
My cat seemed to really like this food. He passed away (not related to the food) after only 2 weeks of eating just this food. In those 2 weeks his blood sugar levels had gone from around 490 to around 250 without insulin injections. Still high but a big improvement.
My 14 year old Snowshoe cat, Jake, was just diagnosed with diabetes and I am giving him insulin twice a day. The veterinarian recommended this and Jake loved it.
Thx for the prompt delivery. My cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes snd this food was prescribed for her. So glad you carry it!
