Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

This is great for The Wolfman since he has a very small liver and has had pancreatitis more than once. He seems to like it.

Yorkie loves this food
By YorkieOwner on Dec 3, 2020
I have a 14 year old yorkie who has been eating Purina EN Gastroenteric Naturals dry dog food for 10 years and loves it. Recently she had an upset of her GI tract due to taking an oral flea med that flared her colitis symptoms. She lost weight so we wanted to give her the wet food equivalent hoping she could eat more. I ordered this hoping it would agree with her as her stomach is very sensitive. The food came today and my yorkie loves it. I am pleased with the ingredients in this formula. .She is constantly wanting to go back to the kitchen to see if I will feed her a little more. Very pleased with this product. Thank you Chewy for getting this food to me in 3 days.

Works for sensitive stomach
By Jlee on Dec 21, 2020
Really helps her chronic pancreatitis stay calm. Works well for my dog who is a 65lb mixed breed and in otherwise good health. The dry version is very good as well. Really calmed her digestive system significantly.

Dog won't touch it. :(
By Kathy on Oct 5, 2020
I had high hopes for this food - trying to get my dog with kidney disease to eat. Unfortunately she won't touch it. Very frustrating. Chewy of course delivered excellent service. I just wish I could have bought just one can to try instead of a case but no one sold it locally and that was the only option. Now I have 11 cans uneaten.

Appeals to my older Lab
By AngusMom on Jun 25, 2020
My 10-year-old Lab’s appetite has fallen off and he’s had some stomach upset, so his vet encouraged us to use this food. Angus loves it and has started eating more after struggling to keep on weight, despite steroid use.

One star for effort
By SLStor on Apr 20, 2020
Had high hopes for this food since we were never completely satisfied with the regular formula. The ingredients looked good. Chewy went above and beyond getting the order processed and delivered. I was way disappointed immediately when I opened the first can. It looks slimy and has the consistency of paste. The first day LaRue ate it albeit begrudgingly. She kept glancing over her shoulder at me, with dirty looks like I've never seen from her! Day 2, LaRue took one bite and spit it out. From that point she wouldn't even look at it or at me. I went through six cans of this food, trying to disguise it. She just kept getting madder and madder. LaRue has never been a finicky eater, has never turned Had high hopes for this food since we were never completely satisfied with the regular formula. The ingredients looked good. He's So Happy To Have Something New.and Delicious.!
By SheekyX9 on Apr 3, 2020
My husband & I have an 11 yr. old, 15 lb. cream colored, purebred Pom named RAINIER. We've had him since he was 3 months old. A few yrs. ago, he was diagnosed with pancreatitius and he's been eating canned EN Gastroenteric food every since. There's so few choices for dogs with his condition and it's hard for me to feed him the same thing day in & day out. He doesn't like dry food & will swallow it whole rather than chewing it. (His last dental cleaning was 3/24/2020.) When I found out Pro Plan EN offered a Natural canned dog food with far superior ingredients, I was thrilled. RAINIER loves it. Treats for dog's with his condition are so rare. Our vet recommends all the veggies he wants to eat so he gets raw cauliflower stems (doesn't like the flowers), raw baby carrots & sodium free green beans. Thank You Pro Plan. Now, please come out with some delicious dog treats. … more
