Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.
Transition Day | Current Diet | New Diet |
---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |
Day 7 | 0% | 100% |

We adopted a 6 month old kitten who we didn't know had Giardia (yuck!!) Anyway with our 12 year old cat and a 6 month old kitten this formula worked to help their digestive tracts get back on track. The 12 year old never tested positive but in the end he has Enjoyed this food more than the cheap stuff that he used to eat. I also noticed that because it has less "fillers" the 2 cats make their 1/4 cup each last until they get their next 1/4 cup, whereas with the other food they were out within an hour acting like they were starving still. I've tried the wet food also. The 12 year old likes it but the younger boy not so much.
I ordered for the first time on Chewy and was pleased with the service. I ordered the wrong EN dry food, but it seemed to work out ok. I meant to order the EN Gastro Natural. Didn't realize that there were two forms of the EN gastro dry food. My cat had diarrhea for a few days but seems to be doing better now.
Recently my cat was diagnosed with a severe case of pancreatitis. We switched his food twice. He didn't eat any of the first stuff we tried, and with the second food his pancreatitis came back. Our vet recommend the Purina ProPlan EN diet, and I'm glad he did. I've never seen my cat eat any food the way he enjoys this stuff. After two weeks he's gained most of his weight back, and is acting like his normal self again. I couldn't be happier!
While this food is prescribed to one of my cats due to digestive restrictions and tummy issues, this food is very very liked by both of my cats. For ease at meal time I’ve kept them on the same diet. They bury themselves in the food bin container if left open, that’s how much they love it. There has been no issues with digestion or going potty while on this dry food. One cat has a condition called macro colon and has a tendency for constipation.
I’ve been giving this food to my 16 year old guy Kurtis for over a year. It’s ok. He seems to like it. This last bag I got has a different smell, has made my cat vomit more than usual. I threw it out because of the smell and the how it made my cats breath unbearable. Too expensive for this experience. I had to buy another bag for transition period but I’m done.
My 13 year old cat, Pistachio, has IBS and he loves this food. His brother, Rorky, who does not have IBS, insists on eating whatever his brother is eating. Pistachio's IBS has improved since switching back to this food and taking Fortiflora daily. Also, this food is affordable.
My cat Noah was originally prescribed the EN in pate form. He really didn't like the pate so vet suggested the dry food . He loves the hard food .
This is our first bag of this food and it is fantastic. Our sick cat is gaining weight (thank goodness). She loves this food and wants to eat it all the time, usually ignoring her canned food now! We are also relieved that her stool is more often in the litter box rather than on our floor, and it looks like healthier stool. My vet's office sells this same food, but it's basically the same price and not conveniently delivered to my door.
The person helping me was very pleasant and helpful I was very satisfied with the product. It came in just 3 days.
Love this new food the Veterinarian put my cat on! It has done wonders for his digestion issues! Reasonably priced and was delivered timely by chewing, Chewy did all the work in contacting my Vet so I didn't have too!
