This is what the vet recommended
My dog was diagnosed with stage three kidney failure, and this is what the vet recommended, and I cannot even get him to eat it at all. He sniffs it and walks away.

HA proplan dog food
Our middle age dog has had a health problem for over a year and a half and has been on this prescription diet. He was close to death when he started it and is his old self after changing his diet and adding a few meds.

Jury Still Out
We just started our girl on this new food so she hasn't yet started eating it without her previous food being mixed in. She seems to like the dry HA but isn't too crazy about the canned. A little more time will give us a better idea.
Love the can not so much the dry
Love the can not so much the dry. This is a prescription. One of the dogs needs to be on HA so all the dogs changed food. I will continue with the can and buy a different dry when we run out. All three dogs are in agreement about the dry. Maybe it is the weird texture.

Better choice
My 10 or 11 year old (we'll never know) dog did not like the previous brand. She would eat it only if I added to it. So, I asked for a change and this food is far preferred by her. She will eat it dry which is amazing as she has not done that for over a year. I am not a fan of the canned food as it is difficult to mix in but she likes it. So, I guess I'll keep trying to use.
