what is the copper content in this food?

How much protein is in this food

Why does the Purina Pro Plan Veterinary HA Dry dog food say it is chicken flavor but does not list chicken as an ingredient? My dog is allergic to chicken anyway.
Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2019
This formula doesn't contain any chicken within the ingredients. This recipe is the HA Hydrolyzed Vegetarian Formula. Purina does offer a chicken recipe called Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA Hydrolyzed Formula Chicken Flavor Dry Dog Food.

We love this food for our very sensitive dog. She has so many allergies and thankfully doesn’t react to this food. Is there a line of treats this company makes with same/similar ingredients? I’d love to give my dog a little variety in her treats rather than just her kibble.
Answer by ChewyOct 10, 2018
The Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Gentle Snackers Hydrolyzed Dog Treats are compatible with this diet. It is recommended to double check with your vet before adding treats or supplements to your dogs diet.

Life changing product

My beautiful little Cavachon is nine years old. He has dealt with digestive issues, IBD in particular for the past five years. Most recently also adding chronic pancreatitis to the list. After consulting with a very respected veterinarian nutritionist and internist, Finley was put on this food and it has changed our world. The only other things that he eats are diced carrots, diced green beans and cucumber slices, which I use to administer his meds. He does also get the Purina Hydrolyzed treats which he loves. Hopefully any of you dealing with these issues will have the same success with this food that we have had.

Happy dog with special diet needs

I am so far very pleased with this alternative to another brands hydrolyzed protein diet food. My dog has been on a strict hydrolyzed protein diet her entire life and I wanted to offer her some variety. She seems to love this food and there has been no tummy upset so far in making the transition from prior food to this (so far I am at about 50/50 old food/new food). I am also using pieces of this food in her treat jar and she seems excited about it. Thank you Chewy for processing and shipping out the new order so fast.

Dog did not like but did seem to work

We were prescribed this food for suspected allergies. Our 13 year old GSP liked it at first and ate it, but after about 2 weeks he stopped eating it and it eventually got to the point to where he spit it out and refused to eat even a single piece. We are moving on to give novel proteins a try! With that being said, it did seem to improve his symptoms of pododermatitis.

I would recommend this item if your dog has teeth!

The vet prescribed this to my rescue dog due to my dog having bad dental issues, but the kibbles being either too hard for her or after softening it, it just was sticky and mashed together. It didn't look too appealing to my dog and my dog completely refused it. Unfortunately, after so many tries, my dog still didn't touch any of it and resorted to her old food. If my dog had teeth, this would have been a great option as the ingredients and food is easy on the digestive system. I have recommended it to my other friends who have dogs that still have teeth and they said their dog didn't have any issues with the food.

Molly’s on going tummy issues

I had started Molly on this food by buying a bag at our vet and then ordered this bag from Chewy for when the first bag ran out. Unfortunately, this food is not agreeing with Molly’s tummy either. I haven’t even unboxed this bag from Chewy. I would be happy to forward it to someone that can use it or return to Chewy? Not an issue as far as the product or with Chewy. Just still working with our vet to figure out what is wrong with Molly!

Game changer

Since we got our boy we have had trouble with loose stools no matter what food we seemed to try. After a second visit to the vet with yeast in the ears the vet suggested we change to a Hydrolyzed protein diet. This food has been a total game changer and he loves it. To my surprise his stools are much less and perfect. I definitely recommend a talk with your vet if your dog has suffered from these issues.

Hydrolized vegetarian formula kibble

My two thirteen year old corgis have sensitive digestive tracts. They have been doing well on Purina HA & Hill’s ZD canned food with Hill’s ZD kibble. I purchased the vegetarian formula to add something interesting but safe and digestible to their diets. I am currently adding just a bit to their food and also using the vegetarian formula as treats. They love the food and have had no problems.

$103 bag and it’s not resealable?

I should have known better than to order Purina. Seriously over a hundred bucks and they can’t make a re-sealable bag? So I’m just supposed to crumple it up with air in it and no way to seal it from bugs? What is this 1973? Do better Purina. I won’t be ordering this again. I had to dump it into my reasealable bag from another brand that wasn’t working for my guy. Will he eat this? Looks like it. But he also eats his own feces due to his health issues so I don’t really trust his taste buds. We will be moving on to another brand when we go through this “kibble” that looks, feels, and sounds like cheese-less cheese puffs.

Intestinal Problems

My lab has suffered with intestinal problems for almost a year, on and off medication. This food has completely solved his problems, no more loose stool, no more explosive diarrhea. Just firm poops. Thank you.

Puppy Approved

I've been struggling with my 4 month Rottweiler constantly having diarrhea due to food allergies and a sensitive stomach. This food has definitely been helping! The diarrhea has lessened and I'm hoping that as she is on this food longer, the diarrhea will disappear. She also loves the taste and eats her full serving.
