Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Both dogs love them!
By Treats on Jan 12, 2021
I got these for a friend's dog because he needs to lose a few pounds and these go with his new food. CheyAnne and Pacheco both love them. Chico is on the diet but since they both have a mini picnic every night they both get them. Chico's get broke into tiny pieces since he's a chihuahua mix and Chey gets hers broke in half since she's a border collie. Will buy again soon!

Not for spoiled doggos
By Hayy on Jan 21, 2021
My dogs are spoiled with fancy treats and refused to eat these. They are super crunchy treats. There was absolutely nothing wrong with them, but if your dog has been spoiled with the good full fat treats they probably won't want to eat these. I ended up giving them away :(

A Lite Treat for a not-so-lite Chihuahua
By Miabella on Feb 4, 2021
My 11 lb. Chihuahua loves these lite chicken flavor treats, and I feel comfortable giving her one or two of these a day given that they are low calorie (15 cal. ea.), low fat and high fiber.

My dogs have gotten bad about wanting scraps from the table so now I give them their cookie their little dog treat and they take it off and go eat it in there a little corners were nobody can bother him and it saved us from feeding them things that they don’t need to eat there happy and we’re happy

Pro Plan Snackers Treats
By Johnny on Jan 24, 2021
A quick treat from a known trusted supplier. Yet, an awfully lot of wheat in the ingredients which sometimes is controversial, but maybe is no issue for a small treat.. So far, no problems or complaints. .

Great for mature dogs
By Patty on Jan 8, 2021
My vet recommended this item as a treat for my dog who is on prescription food for urinary tract health. Abby had bladder stones removed in 2015. Abby loves them!

Great treats!
By Miley on Feb 2, 2021
I was at first concerned that Miley would not enjoy these as much as her favorite Milk Bones as she is very picky, but she loves them!

K9 kids love these!
By NanStL on Dec 31, 2020
Tried for first time and it’s a hit. Both K9 kids love these treats. Older dog has had pancreatitis and has to be on a low fat diet. These fit the bill. Will be buying more.

Dog owner who doesn’t want a fat dog
By JP12 on Nov 29, 2020
number of calories per treat is not listed. I’m suspicious you are hiding something. Just list the number of calories as everyone expects. “Low” is not a number.
