My 10 yrs old golden was just diagnosed with kidney issues which has caused me to change her diet completely. She’s extremely picky about her food so I’ve introduced this food into her diet with the accompanying Purina dry food over the past week and she is doing great with it.
My dog is in kidney failure so his diet is limited. I wanted to try this food, looking for something he would like. He smelled it and walked away. He wouldn't even try it when I offered it again. I had to purchase a case because it isnt sold in single cans. Huge waste of money.
Despite the affordable price for this prescription diet, my dog won’t eat it. I don’t know why but even if I mix it with something else he likes he still refuses to eat. I have a case of it. I would recommend it to others it is just my dog that refuses to eat it and is extremely picky
My youngest has chronic kidney disease and requires a special diet. Some days he gets sick and it’s hard for him to eat. I ordered this in hopes to help coax him to get something in his system. However, when I opened the cans they were molded inside. I opened several of them and came up with the same result each can. Very disappointing considering the cost I spent. Poor baby was so excited when he heard the can open just to disappoint him with not being able to eat it.
Vet instructed us to use this food for a month. Our dog seems to like it. We prefer dry food.
Roscoe is on a kidney diet for highbprotein levels in urine. He us not eating this dog food. I mix with chicken and still won't eat.
Once it's heat it up it smells like bacon and my dog loves that smell! My dog is a very picky eater and he never sticks with one of these prescription foods for long! So I'm not sure how long he will stick with this one! I just got it in the mail today. When I first opened the can it looked really ugly like a big roll of hard gel substance. Very hard to take out of the can unlike the hills beef and vegetable stews that he was used to eating yet grew tired of. So at first I put some on a plate and try to give it to him. He took a couple bites of it but did not want it. So instead I gave him the hills chicken renal kibbles and he ate it up quickly. He loved it. And when evening came I tried again with the Purina NF can food. I put some in a bowl , added a little water to it ,heated it up in the microwave and chopped it up. He loved it so much! After licking clean the first bowl He came back for more and I certainly gave it to him! So far he loves this food. It's very hard with renal failure dogs to keep them happy when it comes to feeding. So far so good!
This Purina diet food is the first dog food Maggie seems to actually enjoy! I can't wait for her to lose weight.
This food is dry, with no smell and unpalatable. And this is for a dog that will eat literally anything! Even green beans. He's overweight because he's a voracious eater but wouldn't touch this unless it was mixed with normal food and beef stock.
My dog doesn't like new food even after we weaned her off Lil Caesers. So we trudge on & hopefully she'll get hungry enough to get back on schedule.
