Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.
Transition Day | Current Diet | New Diet |
---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |

This was to get our cats weight down, it was recommended by the vet to get his weight down on the quicker side. However, the amount of rice in it is disturbing. For such an expensive food, more actual meat/protein should be in it. Our cat ate around it & we had to throw a lot of it out. No.
My Scrappy loves her new food . Any cat mom would say a happy cat is a good cat.
My cat absolutely loves this food. I made a fast and easy switch over. There were no stomach issues moving over to this. I haven’t had my cat weighed yet- it’s been about a month on his new food. He looks like he lost a little weight. Another big bonus is that he gets a significant amount of food everyday, so he is not going around hungry.
Two of my cats need to lose some weight. Trying this high protein, lower carbs. They are eating it. 4Th one we have tried.
My cat has lost nearly 5 pounds from 14 lbs down to 9.5 pounds (she is not a big cat). We tried a different food that did not give good results. I would recommend the wet food over the dry variant.
This food is great for cat weight loss. The problem is the cat hates it and will eat it only as a last resort and makes our life miserable as a result. Years ago he did lose 3 lbs on this diet but we were out of the house more often and did not have to put up with his yowling. He does like the OM Savory Selects but doesn't seem to lose weight while consuming it.
Wasn't sure he would like the pate like texture as he usually eats the savory selects, he enjoys this also. The company lists as minced ,it is solid course pate.
My 2 cats likes it because they eat anything, but too much rice. Cats don’t need rice
We switched from OM morsels because all he ate was the gravy. He seems to like this ground food but picks out all the rice. Not sure why rice is in there. He has lost 3 lbs on OM products. He’s 13 and a Maine Coon
Initially bought the 24 can variety pack of OM. Since the blue label (whitefish & chicken) was not in the variety pack, I bought a case of that, too. Surprise, surprise the whitefish & chicken are not the consistency of the other 3 varieties in the 24-pack. The labeling on this reads "...in savory sauce..." just like on the other 3 varieties. I can find no mention on the label that this is more like a soft, wet pate. Luckily, Cozy cat is fine with mixing things up a bit. This pate is much easier to divide than the chunks in gravy. I've been mixing the two (pate & chunks) in the bowl & he's finishing what's served. He's been on OM for 3 months. The OM is the only food Cozy is given, and there's been no significant weight loss, yet. The vet may make some changes at the next monthly check-up. Three stars because of labeling, no weight loss, and I wish they'd use less meat by-products.
