Would this work on a cabinet door as opposed to a household door?

This product will fit well if the cabinet door is 1.25 inches to 1.75 inches thick.
What if the door is a hollow core but standard size? Will this still work?

Perfect solution

This kitty door is exactly what we needed to our cat can get to her litter box and food without allowing the dogs to get to them. It came with a template and took my son only about 20 minutes from start to finish to remove the door, trace the template, cut the opening and install the door. There is a little bit of a lip that hangs down below the bottom of the door and we were a little worried it would hit the floor, but it doesn't. Just something to keep in mind if your floor is very close to the bottom of the door.
