Tags shaped like military dog tags (bearing the same ID info) work however, because the long axis of that shape goes down into the bottom of the little pocket, whereas the knobby bone ends are too wide to fit, even when rotated and stuffed in sideways. I was skeptical that the velcro used to attach the three straps, would not become snarled with my Australian Shepherd's shedding undercoat, but so far, no problems. Friends of mine use Quiet Spot silencers on dogs that swim a lot - they've said they can handle the wet just fine (if the neoprene gets kind of stinky), but some tags will rust or otherwise degrade if they stay wet - if not the tags, then the split rings or S-attachments will rust. I bought mine to replace a different tag silencer product called the Freeze Tag - which worked fine, until my dog managed to unhitch the attachment from the collar ring on three separate occasions. The two previous times, I saw him manage this feat by scratching, so we didn't lose his tags. But last week at the lake, after a great romp in the leaves, I noticed all the tags and the Freeze Tag attachment, were missing. Crossing my fingers our new Quiet Spot will silence jingling tags and manage to not permit the tags to escape when my dog decides on a really good scratch! … more

The silencer is durable. I wish it attached to the collar differently. My dog rolls around and had pulled the silencer off a couple of times.

Product is great for our senior Chihuahua. Unfortunately, our German Shepherd destroyed it within one hour. $12 down the drain

This works wonderful. I have 5 tags inside it. All are small, because my Maltese only weighs 9 lbs.

Silence IS golden

Wow. This is awesome. I think the noise even bothered our dog. Now we live in silent bliss when he walks into a room. Every animal that has tags needs one of these. Seriously!
