Feed Responsibly: Monitor your pet while feeding premium rolled food. This is a consumable, highly digestible food, however, choking may occur if ingested in large pieces. Always provide a fresh supply of drinking water.
It is important that your pet switch pet food gradually from his current pet food to avoid digestive upset.

Remember These Tips When Switching Your Dog's Food:
You do not need to refrigerate the food rolls until they are opened. The shelf life for our unopened food rolls is one year from the production date. If you do plan to store the rolled food for a prolonged time, we suggest storing in the refrigerator for optimal freshness. To serve, slice through the wrapper for your desired serving size. Leave the casing on the remaining product and seal the open end with plastic wrap, foil or in a zip-top bag and refrigerate. Opened sealed rolls will remain fresh in the refrigerator for one-to-two weeks.
Yes. Redbarn Premium Rolled Food freezes very well. Simply slice into sections and wrap individually before freezing. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
The answer is yes. Our rolled foods contain a lower moisture content than many rolled or canned foods so you can feed less while still maintaining optimal nutrition. To meet AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) approval as a full meal, the food must contain caloric density or energy required by your dog based on his body weight and the recommended daily serving amount. By meeting AAFCO approval, REDBARN provides a sufficient amount of energy for your dog based on our daily feeding recommendation.Feeding a smaller, nutrient dense meal, it is easier on your dog's digestive tract. It also reduces the amount of waste your have to clean up in the yard.
Redbarn rolled food is preserved naturally by using ingredients that “bind” the water to reduce the water activity (Aw) to a level where harmful bacteria cannot grow. It is further preserved by natural ingredients with antioxidant properties such as Flax seed, Rosemary and Tocopherols (Vitamin E source)
The “Best By” date is read as MM/DD/YY and the last digit is an internal batch number.
Super versatile for treat training: this roll can be sliced and diced into pieces that hold their shape for trick training. Those same diced up bits can be stuffed, along with other goodies, into a Kong or Toppl for a long-lasting frozen treat. Unused portion of the roll can be frozen for later defrosting in order to make it last. I suggest cutting the roll into sections and freezing each section in its own zipper bag in the freezer. That way you won't have to defrost the whole log each time you want to use some. Finally, a warning: this thing is heavy, and it does roll! I was carrying it into the house on a pile of other Chewy dog treats in my arms. The roll..."rolled"...right off my pile, bounced on the front step, and continue rolling out onto the lawn. "I'll get it in just a sec," I thought to myself. Once in the house I was briefly delayed. When I made it back outside I found my dog had allowed himself a healthy "taste test" portion of the split-open log. <sigh!> It passed with flying colors.
Mixed review on this. We usually purchase Chicken vs. the lamb; I accidentally purchased the lamb. We use the chicken to stuff Kong toys, smear on lick mats, and (most important these days) administer meds for our senior pup. The chicken is moist and pliable so able to place medication into chicken formula and roll into a "meatball" - our senior pup takes his meds so well by using this chicken formula. He's on so many medications that if we were to purchase the "pill pockets" we'd run out within a week or so. Our dogs love the lamb but it appears very dry and crumbles/breaks apart; so, it wouldn't work for stuffing a Kong, smearing on lick mat, and definitely not able to roll up in a "meatball" to administer meds.. With the chicken - we're able to use it in so many more ways. Love the chicken formula!
I'm not sure this is the best stand-alone food based on nutrition, but I grated it and used it as a food topper for my old fella who has gotten very picky. He enjoys it and it has made mealtime easier. Makes a good treat for my other dogs as well. I just break off a quarter-size piece and they gobble it up. It smells like smoked summer sausage and is easy to cut. Good product that helped when I needed it!
My nickname for Red Barn meat rolls is "crack for dogs"! Seriously, all the pups and dogs I train absolutely love these meat rolls. During training sessions, dogs will turn their noses up at the treats their owners are using and turn to me, offering a desirable behavior such as sitting or going into a down.
My sis recommended this to me for my two older dogs. One is 15 the other is 13. They both kind of lost interest in eating or sometimes they would eat only once a day. I tried this with them along with their regular kibble and they really like it. They still sometimes only eat once a day but it's less frequent than what it was before!!! Like my sis said...they can get pretty picky in their old age. I highly recommend this as regular food for your dog, as a treat or as a topper for food.
Although my dogs love lamb, we finally tried this and the dogs did not like it. The roll seemed a little dry/flaky when I cut it. Maybe since it isn't the same as lamb meat from the grocer, which is cost prohibitive now, and is a formed roll instead of cubes or shanks of lamb meat is why this is not an option for my dogs. They would not recommend but I liked that the food isn't messy and was relatively easy to prepare.
I cut the entire roll into small cubes and freeze to use as training treats. It works great and is more economical than bite sized soft training treats. I can also control the size since I dice the food roll myself.
I prefer Happy Howie's, but it's no longer available. I use a ton of training treats, and these just disintegrate quickly. Few of them keep their shape after chopping up. OTOH dogs do love them.
Freya loves it and it’s very clean to deal with. Less waste than a case of cans. Cuts easily
My dog loves these. This roll is a bit drier than the beef roll which I actually prefer because I find it less messy/sticky to handle and she doesn’t seem to mind the difference.
