FAQ

What is hyaluronic acid (HA)?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring substance produced by the body that is non-immunogenic and has many roles and functions. It can help support the natural wound healing process, provide lubrication for joints and help with tissue hydration by holding water. It has been incorporated into many medical products and technologies for a variety of purposes, such as cosmetics as well as skin, joint and eye health.

The HA found in Remend Corneal Repair Gel has been modified and cross-linked. What does this mean?

The cross-linked HA found in Remend provides a tissue scaffolding matrix that is conducive for corneal cell movement and migration over the defect. It helps support normal re-epithelization and aids the natural healing process.* It also provides enhanced lubrication and hydration of the corneal surface.

How does Remend Corneal Repair Gel work?

The tissue scaffolding matrix that results from cross-linking HA creates an environment conducive to cell growth and migration during normal re-epithelialization. Not to be used as a sole therapy for corneal ulcers; does not contain an antibiotic.

When would Remend Corneal Repair Gel be helpful?

Remend Corneal Repair Gel aids in the management of superficial corneal ulcers in dogs and cats. Not to be used as a sole therapy for corneal ulcers; does not contain an antibiotic.

    Eye Injury

    By on

My dog had a severe puncture injury to his corneal. Thanks to Remend, I see improvement every day. I highly recommend this product. Chewy is one of the few companies that can fill the prescription, and they did so. Even in this "slow postal service" during the co-vid pandemic, the medicine arrived quickly. THANK YOU CHEWY!

    Exceptional Hydrating Eye Gel

    By on

This product was first recommended by my vet for my 13 year old beagle, as he has a tiny growth on his eyelid that makes contact with his eye. His runny eye has decreased significantly by using this gel. I will keep using it.

    I love Chewy RXs

    By on

My dog had an eye injury. The vet recommended an eye drop to help heal the wound. I checked with local pharmacies and no one carried the drops. I checked Chewy and they had it at a reasonable price and immediately shipped it to me. Today we had our final checkup with the vet. The eye is perfectly healed. Thank you. Chewy

    Highly recommended.

My dog has a corneal ulcer. The eye specialist vet wanted to remove his eye, I didn’t go that route due to the dogs age, I used this on my dog 3 to 4 times a day, and his eye is healing.
