Instructions

The first step in clipping your pet’s nails is making sure they’re calm and secure. Hold your pet, or have someone else hold them securely, but calmly. Also, make sure they can’t move their paws around too much. If your pet gets fussy, feed them a treat and continue the process.

Next, hold the paw in your hand and snip the tip of the nail off. If your pet has clear nails, you should be able to see the location of the quick inside. If the nail is black you won’t be able to see the quick. Just snip the very tip of the nail. The quick is the inner part of the nail, if clipped it will bleed. Don’t be afraid if it does, take some styptic powder and apply it to the wound. This will clot up almost immediately. Continue through every nail and don’t forget the Dewclaw (this is the nail on the side of the paw.)

    RESCO DULL NAIL CLIPPER

By PAULA on Apr 8, 2021

I have been buying this same nail clipper for years. When Foster & Smith was selling it, it was green and a very sharp nail clipper. Soon Chewy had the same clipper, but it was yellow and not as sharp. I just purchased two last week. They are so dull, I can hardly cut my golden retrievers nails. It pinches the nail, instead of cutting. It seems like the manufacturer is cutting corners and not making the same quality nail clipper, that they used to.

Best clippers I have ever purchased

    By Moomy on Mar 16, 2021 top500Contributor

My dog has large thick nails. These are amazing. The cut through like warm butter. They don’t make that clipping sound that activated her. The best thing is you can get a replacement blade if they get dull. Great purchase. Thanks Chewy.

    Work nicely

By HoneyBear on Jul 9, 2021

Much easier to handle and small so to not alarm our dog when she see us coming.

    Not large enough

    By Quack765 on Jan 19, 2021

I bought these for my medium size dog. They are supposed to be " large". His toenail will barely fit in it, which makes doing his nails extra challenging because he doesn't like it in the first place. They also don't feel as sturdy as my old ones that I had for 20 yearsm

    Broken first use.

By Maryanne on Dec 3, 2020

I order from chewy probably 2 times a month for meds and a toy and I am a frequent food auto-ship and never have had an issue I do love ordering from Chewy, it's not you directly. I needed a strong clipper. The one I have used for years had finally broken, this didn't even make it through one dog nail and I know my dogs nails are pretty thick but this was the same style as the other one. I was not going to buy a different brand than the last but honestly I just needed something to add to get the free shipping. It was a mistake honestly, this didn't even work through one nail and the spring is already broken. Fully disappointed and wish I didn't pay for this junk.

    Not recommend

By Nicky on Feb 10, 2021

I'm disappointed at this product. It's not sharp enough so very difficult to trim my dogs nail. I am a veterinarian so I believe I do have enough experience..

    dog clippers

By chopkins on Jan 10, 2021

I am very disappointed in these clippers. I have a yellow lab and I selected these because they are made for large dogs. They split my dogs nails and did not provide a clean smooth cut.

    Must have essential!

By TrinityEquine on Feb 12, 2021

Well made. Exactly what I need as DVM. The plastic coating on the handke makes them easy to hold.

    Sticky mechanism

By Doglover on Oct 18, 2020

Resco is supposed to be a decent brand but with the pair I bought, they don't release cleanly. When you squeeze them they engage well but when you release them, there is a stickiness, almost like a bump before the blade disengages. Maybe this wouldn't bother some dogs, it can cause a problems if the dog decided to pull away, as mine sometimes do. So, I will be returning them.
