Questions & Answers

How do these work? Is there a video anywhere to explain?
Answer by ChewyJan 15, 2018
The first step in clipping your pet’s nails is making sure they’re calm and secure. Hold your pet, or have someone else hold them securely, but calmly. Also, make sure they can’t move their paws around too much. If your pet gets fussy, feed them a treat and continue the process.Next, hold the paw in your hand and snip the tip of the nail off. If your pet has clear nails, you should be able to see the location of the quick inside. If the nail is black you won’t be able to see the quick. Just snip the very tip of the nail. The quick is the inner part of the nail, if clipped it will bleed. Don’t be afraid if it does, take some styptic powder and apply it to the wound. This will clot up almost immediately.Continue through every nail and don’t forget the Dewclaw.

Which way do you cut? Should the blade go up under the nail? Down on top of it? Cut from the side?
Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2020
It would be easier to cup from under and up the nail.

Are these small? I need for cats.
Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2018
The dimensions are approximately 5 x 3.5 x 0.5 inches. They are made for use with cats.

Can these be used for rabbits or are they too big?
Answer by ChewyNov 10, 2019
These clippers can be used for small animals such as rabbits.

They work great

They work great. All metal construction. Easily clips any nail. The grind on the jaw could be a little cleaner - would expect higher standards for an American made product. But they do work well

Don't cut nail cleanly

Perhaps there is an issue with the nail clippers I received but after numerous attempts at various angles these clippers shred the nail each and every time. The cut is not clean at all and the clippers are awkward to hold as well. Not worth the cost.

Not safe enough for our pets

USA made quality construction: however, the overall design makes it difficult to see the quick inside the nail, and it's as easy to crack and fracture the nail as it is to cut it cleanly. The blade was not sharp or stable enough. Too much risk of injury to cat.

Save your money

Did not work for us. We tried both direction with the sharp edges and it just broke and crushed our cat's nail.

awkward & unstable

I gave these clippers several tries and just couldn't figure it out. If I don't feel confident using it, my cats aren't going to feel confident being clipped. It's a strange angle and difficult to maneuver while handling cat paws.

Blades aren't sharp enough

These clippers are horribly dull and did nothing but mangle my cat's nails. First time trying this style, and I was hopeful it would give me better leverage, but the blades themselves were awful.

Cat Nail Clippers

Worked very well, easy to use, but a little light weight. I expected something sturdier feeling.

Great for small dogs

Easy to hold you can see what your doing better. Very sharp so there’s no repeat cutting but remember they are sharp. Excellent product
