Questions & Answers

How long in advance should I give it to see if effects?
Answer by ChewyMay 04, 2020
It's recommended to administer 30 minutes before a stressful event, though cases of extreme stress may require additional time and dosage.

Does this help with car sickness as well as anxiety in riding in a car?
Answer by ChewyMar 26, 2020
Rescue can be used as often as required during the day and the dose remains the same no matter the size of your pet. A small cat or a large dog are given the same amount of 4 drops whenever administered. Frequency is determined solely by the needs of the animal. In times of situational stress caused by thunderstorms, car rides, being in crowds, or visiting the groomer, etc. you may give Rescue Pet as frequently as every half hour. In those cases, the anticipated circumstance will determine need - one dose may be enough. The glycerin preservative base is slightly sweet and animals usually enjoy the taste. It will not have a direct affect on the car sickness as it works on calming emotions, but may deter car sickness if it is caused by the emotional distress of being in a moving vehicle. Longer standing behaviors may require longer treatment or making Rescue Pet a part of daily routine. Rescue Remedy suggest administering Rescue Pet 4 drops, 4 times a day for the first few days. This can be given by allowing them to lick it off your fingertips, rubbing it onto their nose, between pads of paws or onto bare skin such as abdomen. Again, you may give your pet additional doses as needed, or stop use at anytime. Rescue Pet is non-addictive.

One of the ingredients is Clematis and it is on the toxic list for dogs. How is this safe then?
Answer by ChewyApr 19, 2021
We use a process of homeopathic serial dilution. Plant properties at this dilution do not contain any alkaloids, which are the toxic component of plants. The specifics about the Clematis in our remedy is the genus of the Clematis species. We use Clematis vitalba which is exclusively grown and picked from the same plants on the BACH Centre property of Dr. Bach’s time. The genus Clematis aristolochia is known to cause toxicity of a moderate nature when ingested by animals. Again, we do not use this species. Our BACH Flower remedies are safe to use in pets and have been for decades. Rescue Remedy is also acceptable for oral use in humans. The difference between RESCUE Pet and human Rescue Remedy is the preservative used. Pet contains glycerin, while human version is a grape brandy alcohol dilution with purified water.

Will Rescue Remedy make my dog sleepy or tired?
Answer by ChewySep 06, 2017
This non-habit forming supplement will not make your pet tired, it simply helps to calm pets in stressful situations.

Love this stuff!

I've used the human version of Rescue Remedy on myself for stress and anxiety and can say personally, this tincture works. I've used this on my Morkie for about a year now. Several drops at bedtime helps calm him down and he sleeps deeper. Its non addictive and there are zero side effects. Its alcohol free.

Relief

We have a chihuahua that just gets so nervous, she starts shaking and pacing long before thunderstorms hit our area. I believe if we put her on the clock she’d be more accurate than the weather man but there is no soothing her, and the older she gets the worse she gets. Well that being the case, for relatively the last 2 weeks of June and the first 2 weeks of July she a wreck. If I even put my foot down to hard she jumps. I did try CBD chews but when she gets that way she doesn’t eat either, and the one she did eat did nothing for her anxiety, it just made her clumsy. Finally a few years ago a foster friend of mine told me about Rescue Remedy. We had a pup to transport that was that was a shaking wreck in a car ride and we were talking a good 2 hrs. to go to this meet-n-greet. Well she gave her Rescue Remedy for that car ride and she barely shook once. The adoption that followed was a success and the following day I purchased my first bottle. Tinker takes it because she knows it helps (which surprises me) it’s not fool proof, and sometimes we need a second dose, but most of the time it allows her to rest and eat as normal and keep her fears under control. For myself, I’m glad I can help her with a natural stress relief and not have to worry about accidentally giving her an overdose. So yes, yea. The world has settled and we have barely a shake any more.

Seemed to help my stressed cat

I have several pets and at the times I’ve bought this I had four plus cats in my home. One of my cats is pretty anxious and he stresses over even minor changes like moving his toy or cat bed just to vacuum or clean… I purchased this as well as calming collars and a few other things and unsure which helped the most but after changing to a variety of calming products in just three weeks I saw a huge improvement in his attitude.

Serenity now

Bach's Flower Remedy is great. I can tell it works, it is not a placebo effect. I either put some drops in their wet food, or dab some on a paw, or rub a bit on an ear flap, or the skin in front of the ear. No matter how upset, miffed, or insulted, they calm down almost immediately. One minute, yowling, next, quiet. Works very well, and I'm glad Bach's uses glycerin to extract the flower's powers.

Really works!

My dog would shake and hide in a corner of the basement upon hearing thunder or gun shots. When I gave her this stuff, sh didn't shake or hide. She just kept playing with her toys as if she couldn't hear them. Try it!

Jury's still out

I bought this upon recommendation by a friend. I have a show dog and he seems to have some anxiety waiting to go into the ring (so do I!). I gave this a try 3x and it appeared to make him calmer. He was fine taking it, so I'll give it some more time. Not sure of how much he should get and how often so we are experimenting.

Not sure it does anything, but no bad effects

As the title says, I'm not sure whether this actually calms my cats. But I look at reviews to make sure no one gets sick. So neither of my cats had ill effects that I could see.

Had a calming effect but...

We tried Rescue Remedy because our vet said some people swear by it and it certainly isn't harmful. It did take the edge off of our dog's agitation and restlessness but didn't last long because his symptoms are related to dementia. Melatonin is working MUCH better.

Great stress relief!

I used Bach Rescue Remedy 12 years ago when I flew cross country with my cat, who had a heart condition. She was cool and calm the entire flight. I use Rescue Remedy now to help my current cat chill a little bit before I have to get her into her carrier for a vet visit. Rescue Remedy really calms my cat and makes me less stressful!

Helps with anxiety

I'm using this daily with our foster dog. He was showing signs of anxiety as we are teaching him to dog. I add this to his food or put it on a treat. I will order it again, as needed. So glad to find something to help our pup transition to freedom.
