Tried and True Help For Scaredy Cats!

By Mudpie on Dec 29, 2017

I knew about -and used -Rescue Remedy for pets years ago. The price is right and I am pleased with how it has helped my Tangerine( young cat working through having been feral) adjust and not live in fear in my home. Rescue Remedy is not a miracle cure but definitely assists in the taming process. I knew about -and used -Rescue Remedy for pets years ago. The price is right and I am pleased with how it has helped my Tangerine( young cat working through having been feral) adjust and not live in fear in my home. Rescue Remedy is not a miracle cure but definitely assists in the taming process. I just put maybe 8-10 drops in my cats’ water bowls since I still can’t touch Tangerine( but getting closer!!). Rescue Remedy has no adverse effects on already tame cats as some of the other calming drops caution... … more

    Purchased for nervous toy poodle

Although the dog has known us for most of his life he was not transitioning easily. The difference with these drops, if there is one, is negligible. We have been using them for a couple weeks. Full disclosure - this dog came from a shelter many years ago and the last owner did not do any work with him to help his separation anxiety. This is a tough case. … more

I hate to give this product three stars, but it does not work on my dog. Was excited to find something to help my scaredy baby, this is not it. Followed directions and gave second dose after 30 minutes, no difference. Nonetheless, it may work on yours.

  • Used it before

I used this product before with other cats and it seemed to help. This time I'm not sure it is working but maybe I just need to use a little more or for longer. Maybe seen conflict between cat sisters decrease some, hoping for more. Maybe they are just spunky older cats, they don't bite each other but swipe & chase occasionally.

  • 50:50 chance of it working

I'm a veterinarian and have a thunderstorm phobic dog. We have done everything over the years to help her calm down. Thundershirts, Adaptil collar, music, covered her crate, medications (several!) we are down to the Adaptil collar and this. I think the collar is helping the most, but I know my Mom's dog responded very favorably to this almost 15 years ago! We just started with my girl so time will tell. We've only had one storm since we ordered it. Overwhelmingly, even as a vet, I like the non-medication options as they seem to work the best and have the least side effects:)

  • Helps my cat

My cat started life as a feral. We adopted her last June when she was about six months old. She does not allow us to pick her up, but she is definitely loving and happy to be with us. We need to get her to a vet to have follow-up vaccines. She is extremely resistant to being trapped in the carrier and we have so far failed twice to keep our vet appointments, even with 3 weeks on the drops and a calming collar. That failure aside, I can definitely report a change in her ability to be handled. Also she sleeps more and eats more. But not a real success.
