Your furry friend must have a current heartworm test result on file with your veterinarian in order to be prescribed heartworm medication. Please visit your veterinarian to have this test performed annually to protect your four-legged friend. Revolution is a medication that is applied directly on your furry friend's skin to protect them from biting critters. When applied every 30 days, Revolution protects against heartworms, fleas, and ear mites. It's also effective in preventing and treating roundworms and hookworms in kittens and sarcoptic mange and American dog tick infestations in puppies.
UsesRevolution is formulated to kill adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month. It is also indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestations, prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis, and the treatment and control of ear mite infestations. Revolution is also indicated for the treatment and control of sarcoptic mange and for the control of tick infestations due to Dermacentor variabilis.
Possible Side EffectsIn safety studies, Revolution was administered at 1, 3, 5, and 10 times the recommended dose to sixweek-old puppies, and no adverse reactions were observed. When tested for oral ingestion at the recommended topical dose in 5 to 8-month-old beagles, no adverse reactions were observed. In a topical safety study conducted with avermectinsensitive collies at 1, 3 and 5 times the recommended dose of Revolution, salivation was observed in all treatment groups. Revolution also was administered at 3 times the recommended dose to heartworm infected dogs, and no adverse effects were observed. If side effects do occur, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
Drug & Food InteractionsTalk to your veterinarian about any other drugs your dog is taking before starting this medication.
Precautions
Prior to administration of Revolution, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections. At the discretion of the veterinarian, infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms. Revolution is not effective against adult D. immitis and, while the number of circulating microfilariae may decrease following treatment, Revolution is not effective for microfilariae clearance. Hypersensitivity reactions have not been observed in dogs with patent heartworm infections administered three times the recommended dose of Revolution. Higher doses were not tested. For use in animals only. Keep out of reach of children.

What is Revolution?
Easy to apply, quick to dry, Revolution (selamectin) protects dogs against a variety of common internal and external parasites. Revolution is the first FDA-approved, topically applied medication for dogs 6 weeks and older that:
- Prevents heartworm disease.
- Kills adult fleas.
- Prevents flea eggs from hatching.
- Prevents and controls flea infestations.
- Treats and controls ear mites.
- Treats and controls sarcoptic mange.
- Controls American dog tick infestations.
Revolution is quick-drying, nongreasy and waterfast, with no unpleasant odor, so you can cuddle and play with your dog as soon as the product dries. Bathing your dog 2 hours after application does not reduce the effectiveness of Revolution.
Revolution is a prescription-only medication available only through a veterinarian, not a pesticide registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
How Revolution works?
Just one dose a month applied at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades is all your dog needs for protection against fleas, heartworms and other parasites. No pills. No sticky sprays. No more hassling with multiple products.
After application, Revolution enters the bloodstream through the skin. Concentrations of Revolution in the blood and tissues prevent heartworm disease. Revolution selectively redistributes from the blood to the skin, where it provides protection against fleas, flea eggs, American dog ticks and mites.
Is Revolution right for your dog?
Parasites are an annoying fact of life for our dogs. Parasites can cause a range of problems, from bothersome scratching to more serious medical issues, such as infections and dangerous or even deadly diseases. How dangerous these problems are depends on the type of parasite, the degree of infection or infestation, and your dog's reaction to the parasite.
Most parasites that affect dogs pose no risk for humans. However, a few parasites, like sarcoptic mange mites, are zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from animals to humans. Your veterinarian can recommend methods to prevent, treat or control many canine parasites to reduce the chance of human exposure and to keep your dog healthy.

Great for mature Labs
By Maya on Jan 10, 2021
My 7 year old lab has had 2 ACL surgeries. She has arthritis and this medicine is magic! She loves to run and play, before this medicine she was hardly able to walk around the park. Ask your vet about this if you’re haven’t been prescribed it! My baby can now run and play without limping after!

Works as it’s supposed to
By Sweetchickie on Sep 7, 2020
My two dogs are on this with no issues. I have pulled many ticks off the dogs, but in the Midwest we mainly have Deer ticks, which Revolution does not repel, so I have no issue with that. My vet suggested in the Midwest particularly they should get the Lyme vaccine which is for deer and black legged ticks, so they have some disease prevention for those critters after being bitten. When we go hiking and camping, I’m still pulling them off so I researched and found a spray to make using some rubbing alcohol and a few drops of different essential oils. Since then, I have never found a tick on the dogs (or myself).

Did NOT WORK
By LisalovesLexi on Oct 3, 2020
My dog was on Revolution for 3 years monthly year round. She was diagnosed with heartworm this summer after we noticed fatigue and weakness. Because two heartworm tests were not done prior to use the company would not cover the expense of heartworm. They did offer a free year of Revolution. Why would I want that?!

Not for tick prevention, heart worm and fleas only
By girlsma on Sep 13, 2020
I am amazed how many people are putting this product down because they found ticks! Nowhere does it say anything about tick on the box /description. It is strictly meant for heartworm prevention and fleas! My vet told me that from the get go. I was advised to buy the Seresto Tick collar as well.

Still got ticks
By faciltigre on Jul 11, 2020
My dog has been on Revolution for about 4 months. I apply it correctly and faithfully every 4th of the month. I assumed it was working. But considering the size of the tick I just pulled out from his skin, it obviously isn’t. Let’s hope he doesn’t have heartworm too. So, not only is the product expensive...it doesn’t protect like it says it does.

great product!
By m61899 on Jun 2, 2020
We recently switched to Revolution because we moved to an area with ticks and fleas. This was the recommendation of our breeder and our vet was okay to approve it. Our vet was hesitant because he felt oral pills would be a better prevention, but our concern was safety first after reading reviews about seizures. I know some say it doesn’t work for all ticks, but I’m happy to say, it’s working great for us. The ticks I have found are dead. Only on our first month so hoping it keeps working so well! It works!
