Curiosity killed the cat, but the Richell Cat Safety Gate can help your feline friend stay safe and sound in any room or hallway! Because it’s tension-mounted, this gate is easy and harmless to install. Open and close the door with the paw-shaped lock that opens one way. You won’t have to worry about your pet getting in trouble while you’re gone. The poles are rounded with narrow gaps in between so your purring pal can’t climb, jump over or squeeze through the gate. Rubber feet dress the bottom of the gate to prevent it from scratching the floors.

This is the tallest cat gate on the market, but it arrived with several broken components. A key piece of the frame was not properly welded, making the door a bit unstable. One of the metal rods was too thick for the washer, so I had to secure them with Velcro ties. I will keep the gate for now, because I do not want to go through the hassle of disassembling and shipping it. Unfortunately, Chewy could not provide a partial refund or store credit. I expect higher quality for $400.
This gate was the best purchase I made for my foster kitties. It is perfect for keeping cat colonies separated and for making slow introductions. Nothing on the market compares to its design or quality. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I recommend having someone with mechanical skills assemble it.
Chewy is great but this gate is terrible. Within an hour of getting it set up, my cat broke one of the plastic end pieces on the side extension. The bars are attached with very thin plastic that snapped easily.
Got this because my cat could climb and jump over 48” gates. It was pretty heavy in the box but once the parts were laid out it went together fairly easily. Despite recommending two people putting it together, I was able to do it alone without difficulty. Once up, it was stable and solid and is working well. Only complaint is the high price tag, but it does seem to be durable and of good quality so far.
I payed $389.99 for this, and it serves its purpose well **but** the threads are cheap and the tolerances are off, which makes it loosen all the time and require re tightening. The poles are also a little to short, so I had to add some spacers in them to keep it from shaking all the time.
I have 3 indoor cats; but 1 does not (yet) get along with the other two. My house has a mostly open concept design which meant if the 2 cats were loose 1 had to be in a bedroom or vice versa. This cat gate allows me to create a hallway barrier instead. So whichever cat(s) are on that side of the house are no longer confined to a single bedroom but instead can wander a few rooms. Part of the appeal for this gate is being able to remove it when desired versus a more permanent door installation. It is also more visually “open” versus a solid door so in better keeping with my home’s overall aesthetic. The gate also allows me to socialize the 3 cats a bit more by providing a transparent barrier. I give them food and treats on either side so they can build positive associations while seeing one another. The gate is very sturdy. My cats are 8 lbs, 13 lbs and 15 lbs. Assembling the gate was a little awkward at times since did it alone and did not thoroughly read the instructions beforehand. But overall not terrible and once figured it out the assembly went quickly. Overall thrilled with this purchase! Definitely feel it was money well spent.
I love my cat, but she's a rascal and a ninja. I need to keep her out of the kitchen occasionally (for example, when I am cooking or during my bedtime). I only have one entry point to the kitchen, and I have looked for pet gates online but none of them is tall enough to work for me. Then I stumbled upon this super high gate AND I don't have to drill holes into the walls to install it!! It's a little expensive, but I thought it would be a good investment. The package arrived fast. It is heavy. I would definitely recommend two people to assemble it. I did it by myself, and it took me on and off an entire afternoon. Instructions are clear. I have this huge fear of missing or misaligned holes whenever I put things together. Thank god it didn't happen on this gate. The gate fits perfectly against the walls. It's adjustable so you can tailor the width of it depending on your situation. My opening is 35 inches, and I ended up using all four additional bars that come with the package. The gate is sturdy, and the door swings with ease. The only issue I have is the top horizontal bar is maybe less than 6 ft high. So if you are taller than that, you will have to duck everytime you walk in and out. Finally, I won one battle with my cat. (I tried to post a picture, but it was too large).
Bought this door to separate an older cat from the younger cats in the house who are too rambunctious for a 19 year old! Well made and very sturdy. Allows separation safely. Wish I had this door years ago! Worth the price !
We have a pair of cats that can't be together - it's been a year, and we've exhausted every resource we could, trying. In the meantime, we've lived with a set of baby-gates in the house that we have to navigate between to get from one side of the house to the other. It's been absolutely horrible for us. This gate is an absolute life-changer. It's so tall that even my 6' husband can walk through it. No more hunching between baby gates, no more stepping over them, no more tripping in the middle of the night. It's quiet, it's sturdy, the cats can't climb it, and the only thing I'm sad about is that we didn't find this earlier in this experience.
I was so looking forward to this, thinking I could just pop it out of the box and use it, same as the half-sized gates. Oh no, this is Ikea-level assembly. It's still sitting in piles as I avert my gaze walking past it. I will probably hire someone to put it together so it won't be wonky. Very disappointing for the amount of money spent.
