The Richell PAW TRAX High Wall Cat Litter Box cuts down on mess and gives your furbaby a private place to do his business. The high wall design helps to keep litter and spray inside, rather than all over your house. The anti-tracking grate step helps to remove litter from paws, keeping it off of your floors. The extra-large size offers more room, purr-fect for bit cats and multi-cat homes. The box features a top opening to give your best friend quick and easy access, while the wall provides plenty of privacy. A bottom recessed handle lets you easily lift the box for cleaning. It even includes a scoop that you can hang on a hook inside the box for handy storage, while the box’s overall sleek shape makes for a modernized, attractive look.

The good points are its very large and can accommodate big cats. I also like the side entry and the box is well made, the litter grate in the entry does cut down on litter tracking outside of the box like it says. what I did not like. The oval shape is harder to clean then a square shape. The platform in the entry that holds the grate has to be wiped off every day because it gets pee on it. the raised up part that hold the grate is very close to the side and wet litter gets clogged up in that area and is difficult to scoop out. I ended up using a old paint brush to sweep it out so I could then scoop it up. It takes me twice as long to clean my cats litter box with this one. I gave it a month and have now switched back to what I had before. So, for me the high cost of this litter box was not worth it.
I sincerely hope that the manufacturer reads these comments and removes the anti-tracking step (and ALL of the related plastic components). The step does not work/cats don't use it, and it just takes up valuable space inside the box and creates an unnecessary challenge when it comes to cleaning the box. The plastic could also stand to be a bit sturdier/less flexible. Fix those two components, and this would be the PERFECT litter box. It's spacious enough for our 17 lb. kitty, who is also a "high pee-er" and is also an attractive design. Got the white. Need to add a bit more litter than I am used to when filling it, but nothing drastic. SO close on this one. For reference we had been using the Frisco High Sided litter box in extra large, and may still go back to that depending on how this box cleans up, etc. But this is a far more visually appealing box. SO close to perfect!
I got this for my cat to replace his enclosed, dome-shaped litter box. The internet says cats prefer open top litter boxes and I wanted one with high walls so he couldn’t kick litter out of it. This box is large, a great size for my cat, and it’s aesthetically pleasing. I’ve only had it for a few hours but my cat jumped right into it, no problem!
This is the worst litter box I've ever had. The little step is so counterintuitive. There is always a huge clump of soaked litter underneath it that is hard to get out. Someone always poops on the step. If it was one solid molded piece it would be fine, but it provides too many crevices to get dirty and is ridiculously hard to clean. I feel pretty stupid for having spent so much money on these. Learn from my mistakes!
I live in a household with 4 cats, 3 females, 1 male. Because my male cat is larger than the females he has a tendency to urinate higher in the litter box of the normal size. I needed a higher litter box to prevent his urine coming onto the floor and making a mess. This litter box with the higher sides works better than the normal size. I now have two of these litter boxes.
I bought this litter box about a month ago and after placing it (empty) in a few places in the house, to get my cat accustomed to it, I finally set it up in the litter box area. My cat is a big boy (20 pounds) and has a history of urinating over the edge of his old litter box. When I saw this litter box I though it would be PERFECT!! AND, it was........ no accidents over the edge!! BUT....that only lasted about 3-4 days. He has now found a way to urinate over the edge where the grate is placed...... I must say, cleaning that out is a real chore! Plus, I have a mat underneath that holds a pad to absorb any urine...... so I STILL have to replace that every day. I was so excited at first but now I am frustrated once again. Does anyone out there have any suggestions??? I'd never give him up and will do what I have to to keep up with the mess, but, at 72 years old, it's getting more difficult and I'm not getting any younger! Thanks for listening...... I welcome any suggestions.
I bought it for the color and high sides! My male aims high and this solved that problem. The color pink brings a smile to my face as I was weary of black! Both my babies jump over the grate, which is supposed to decrease litter on the floor, and I would hope to buy my next litter box grate free!
I bought this litter box in an effort to keep our cat from kicking litter everywhere and it worked! I was worried about the high walls because she previously stopped using a similar box with a lid, but she has had no problem, I think the little entrance area helped.
The design of the "step stool" within the litter box is highly problematic. Immediately upon use, my cat began urinating and defecating on the step stool, which is located inside the litter box - this is quite logical, as it's still within the litter box area. Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that the stool is essentially just a frame positioned above a smaller, elevated "step" built into the box. What exacerbates the situation is that my cat consistently uses this specific spot for elimination, and cleaning it is an exceptionally challenging task. Even the provided scoop cannot easily access the narrow space. Buyers, beware of this!
Started using this box in June and it works great for my two cats with "elevator" butt, i.e. raise up as they urinate until they squirt over the sides. The height of this box works perfectly for that, however there are a couple issues. First, the plastic used is very flimsy and difficult to move with litter in it, and almost impossible to pick up and lift to be carried out to clean/disinfect. The sides are weak and flimsy. It would work much better if there were handles on sides to use to lift. Secondly, because ends are rounded (vs. squared corners), it is difficult to clean with the usual scoop...unable to get in those rounded corners. Forget the little scoop that came with it...mine broke trying to get in those rounded sections. It would be great to have a box this height, with usual corners, made from a heavier material, or with handles. The little ledge to step in/out is not needed, but I can live with that. But, side height is great and no more peeing over the sides and onto floor.
