Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

    Mine HATE it :(

    By on

Sadly, the sample can i received from the cat show they gobbled up, so i ordered a case and now they won't eat it. My Boy who will eat anything actually covers it up with the placemat like he's covering his poop..... Guess that tells me what he thinks of it. He covered up his AND hers. LOL! never saw that before.

    Formula changed

    By on

Have been feeding this food to one of my cats for 3 years, all of a sudden, last shipment consistency of pate is different. Cat is just sitting and looking at it. So frustrating that the company would do that without warning

Seems to help with itchy skin issue

    By on

I don't know why this would be, but since we switched from RC Kitten to the Adult Instinctive, our cat who was licking his fur down to the skin has stopped. It may be that we also cut way back on his intake of dry kibble, following our vet's advice. In any case, both of our cats love this stuff, $$$ though it is.

    My cat's favorite

    By on

My cat goes crazy for this food. It has been a challenge to get her to eat wet food but this she will eat no problem.

Different from that in the pet store?

    By on

My cat is a picky eater, but she normally loves 2 of the flavors of Royal Canin. This is the first time I purchased this flavor from Chewy and she will not eat the food - smells it and walks away, but the can from the store she gobbles up right away. I don't know if this is a bad batch or the food is different from that at my local pet store. This brand of cat food is relatively expensive and I don't like the idea of having to throw away 24 cans of food, so don't think I can reorder this from Chewy.

    Cats love it

    By on

We have 3 cats and they love this, as well as the slices in gravy. It seems to be a really good food for them, and Chewy has the best prices.
