Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • My picky cats love it

    By on

This is the only healthy wet food option my two purebred cats, who are slightly over a year old, will eat consistently. They do get sick of it, but it takes a lot longer than other brands.

  • Wet food per day

    By on

How many times do you put wet food in your cats meal? I feed 2 times a day, with wet food but I’d like to do wet food once a day. Is there a dry/wet food that cats love that can be fed?

  • Singing the Praises of Royal Canin

    By on

My cats are very finicky and I have tried to feed them various brands of canned food. They have rejected all except Royal Canin with thin slices in gravy. When I put the bowl of food in front of them these felines can't devour it fast enough. I alternate between Adult Instinctive and Digest Sensitive to give them some variety, but they love both. Royal Canin was recommended to me when my one male developed a urinary blockage while on another cat food. He hasn't had another problem since I switched and that was over six years ago. Royal Canin is a little pricey, but well worth it for the health of the cat.

  • No More Picky Kitty

    By on

Walter absolutely loves this stuff. As a consumer it is difficult to decipher the labels on pet foods so I must rely on my vet to tell me what is safe. I tried this with my finicky kitty and he jumped right on it. No turned up noses. The ONLY drawback for me is the cost. Fixed income is a factor but this is definitely a quality product if you can afford it.

My 1 1/2 yr old can be picky but she ate the kitten version until a few months ago and now loves this as well.

  • Cured cat's IBS

    By on

I can't say enough about this product. I was taking my female cat to the vet every 5-6 weeks for a prednisone shot for these horrific vomiting episodes. Shortly after switching to Royal Canin (I did change dry food as well), she stopped having the episodes. This is quality cat food.

  • Healthy cat food, makes cats chew

    By on

It is useful to offer the tiny slices as a contrast to the pate foods that my cats seem to inhale. I migrated the herd from the kitten slices over to adult slices with no problem. The consistency of the food is much finer than other "sliced" flavors and there is less gravy. Healthy food.

  • My Cat's Favorite!

    By on Top 250 Contributor

My cat loves this food! He also eats Royal Canin Beauty (slices). He is a young guy so the higher protein is good for him. I am happy that the 12-packs are back in-stock - they store more easily than the 24 packs.
