and what are the pork by products? number 2 ingredient.
Answer by ChewyDec 16, 2020
Pork by-products are composed of nutrient-dense organ meats. They are rich in protein and amino acids to help strengthen and maintain your pet’s muscles. Also, because of their nutrient-rich composition, they are typically the first thing an animal would eat in the wild. Pork by-products do not include animal parts such as feathers, horns, beaks, teeth or hooves.

Thin pate style - but cat says No

It was thinner that most pate which sounded like a good thing. I think it's supposed to be easy to syringe feed if needed. Thankfully we're not there yet. Not sure why they call it loaf in sauce. That sounds confusing. I was hoping she'd like it since she needs more calories and it's a high calorie item. But I've got a picky kitty and she says Nope.

Perfect choice

Millie is 15 and has been diabetic for 2 yrs. and has been on a prescription diabetic diet. She recently started to lose weight. Blood work showed her kidneys were starting to fail. The Rx food for the diabetes was the opposite of what she needed for kidney health, and the kidney Rx was wrong for the diabetes. It was decided to try her on a senior diet. She has been on the Royal Cain 12+ aging diet for two weeks. She loves the food and has started to gain some of the weight back. She also has a urine infection. So, all numbers will be checked again in 2 weeks. But, she looks good and loves the food! .

royalty deserves royal!

My queen loves this food, she's a senior cat and usually goes only for seafood but this is now her favorite food (main flavor is chicken liver). Worth the price to keep the fur baby happy and healthy in her old age.

The is the one!

Brady is 16 and so happy with this food! He was diagnosed with IBD 5 years ago and we spent so much money on special food from the Vet, along with weekly b12 shots and pills that never seemed to do much. I found this brand, and then this specific food, and he is healthier than he ever was! His sister, Roxy is 13 and she decided she wants to eat what her big brother eats too! She no longer strains to go to the bathroom, because she is long haired, and obsessively over grooms herself, which led to painful pooping. They both eat this wet food along with the dry digestive health food. They’re happy, hydrated, healthy Senior kitties and feeling like their younger selves again! Love this brand and love Chewy ! My spoiled fur babies are especially happy with their favorite food and enjoying the good life thanks to this food!

Picky Kitty

My kitty has 2nd stage CKD (Chronic Kidney disease). My doctor said there is no need for special prescription diet at this time, but I started looking into low phosphorus foods to slow the kidney decline. I have tried many low phosphorus foods, a battle that has been over 1.5, 2 years. My finicky kitty won't eat any of them. She'll do a few licks here and there, licks up all the juice then leaves it. I spent so much money and all that food went to waste. I saw this mentioned as a good low phosphorus food. My super finicky cat loves this stuff. She'll eat a whole can in one day!!! Before, she would take 4 days to eat a small tiny can of other competitors low phosphorus canned food. Yes, this has Carrageenan in it, which I am not thrilled about. I wish they would not include it when it's not necessary. However, I will continue to feed this to my cat because Carrageenan is better than not eating at all. This food is hard to find in stores, it's always sold out or not restocked. I'm thankful Chewy has it! :)

Misleading description

Loaf in Sauce? Shows it sliced, with no sauce, maybe I should have known. It's a pate, perhaps very moist, perhaos sliceable, but no evidence of sauce in the can I opened.

Older Cat Health

My cat is 17 and in stage 4 renal failure and getting her to eat anything is difficult. I researched the ingredients in the Royal Canin Aging 12+ and found it to be an acceptable option based on phosphorus levels and other ingredients even though it's not produced as a renal failure food. So far she's really enjoying it and eating well. At this stage of her advanced kidney disease I'm thrilled that she's eating and that it's a food with excellent ingredients.

It's a hit!

My 16-year-old girl love, love, loves this food. It's far and away the food she prefers and she's able to eat it well despite the fact that she no longer has any teeth!

Expensive but doing good job

My Senior cat is over 15 but we really don’t know a true age on our old lady. She started losing weight this year. Blood tests are great and X-rays show no problems. We’ve always let her self-regulate dry food. Added in wet food and still no difference. Changed the wet food to RC Aging and she is maintaining her weight again. Reviewer Barbara is correct that the price is outrageous and there should be other options for a 12 pack or something. I hate that Chewy is poor on details for how many cans you’re getting when you purchase many of their foods. But I can also pick this one up in individual cans at my local pet store. If it keeps my old gal going then I’ll keep buying the RC Aging.
