Royal Canin Appetite Control Spayed/Neutered 12+ Dry Cat Food is specifically made for the unique nutritional needs of your aging cat. This formula is designed with an exclusive blend of antioxidants, including lycopene and omega-3 fatty acids, to support your beloved senior cat as she ages. Moderate levels of fat content help maintain an ideal weight. Plus, adapted phosphorus levels help support kidney health. Try pairing this dry food with Royal Canin Appetite Control Spayed/Neutered Wet Cat Food for a meal your cat will love.
We recommend at least a 7-day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

What is the phosphorus dry matter basis. Thanks
Answer by • Oct 30, 2019
This recipe has an approximate phosphorus content of 0.48% as fed and 0.52% on a dry matter basis.
Is this food appropriate for a cat with bad teeth? That is, are the pieces as easy to eat as the kitten formula?
Answer by • Oct 30, 2019
This product is compatible for senior cats over the age of 12 years with easy-to-chew kibble.
Are there any ingredients/vitamins in this food that help with aging joints and bones?
Answer by • Jun 19, 2019
This recipe includes added glucosamine and chondroitin to help support cartilage and bones. There's also an exclusive complex of antioxidants, including lycopene and omega-3 fatty acids support body systems through the aging process.
I have a spayed older girl who has had difficulty with weight (over eats, gets plenty of exercise). She went from free feeding dry to measured feeding 2x a day on the only weight control dry food she would tolerate when her weight crept up after she turned 8. It worked well for a few years but recently she started throwing up this food. After veterinarian tests, it was determined she is very healthy, so it must be the food needs changing. My Mom uses Royal Canin 12+ and offered me some to try.
What a lifesaver. I was worried my cat would turn up her nose at it but she loves the flavor (stinky to human noses I will agree but cats love it!) and this food formula discourages over eating. Very gentle on her stomach and digests quickly. Vomiting stopped. Litterbox normal. She has good energy and her eyes seem brighter. She has now been on the 12+ for months and all is going well.
Recently, I had to start mixing in another RC dry cat food that was available to stretch my RC 12+ when it was not available due to the pandemic, and that food was good and well digested too.
I was so happy recently to see that 12+ was in stock and ordered it quickly, so yay! But now see it is again unavailable. I hope RC recovers from this pandemic soon so availability is uninterrupted. Thank you, RC, for making this healthy food that has helped my girl. Your company is A+!

so glad to find this again
Was very disappointed when this 12+ could not be found anywhere for who knows how long, weekkkkkss after we noticed. We tried 5 other dry foods; fussie, hills senior, nulo, essense and orijen and even the meow mix for the outside strays but, my 16+ old man would just nibble on/crunch up kibbles and spit them out, he won’t eat wet food well enough to sustain him so he lost weight quickly and started acting sick so we ended up having to syringe feed for last week (tiki kitten & the senior mousse’s are great for that)..when i happen to see Chewy had this food again (and so far only Chewy), grabbed a bag and as soon as it quickly arrived, my cat ate 1/8th cp on his own in one sitting, clearly he missed his food too!! grabbing a couple more bags just incase this is getting discontinued cause i noticed exp date is aug 2022, they are usually longer than that when recently manufactured!!

Soft with Shine
As we all know, cats want what the other cat in the house is eating. Therefore, I decided to mix Royal Canin Hairball dry food for my two year old Main Coon with Royal Canin Aging Spayed/Neutered 12+ dry food for my 13 year old short haired kitty.
The results were wonderful. My vet could not believe how soft with a beautiful shine the fur was for both of my cats.

Thank you Chewy
I have been waiting for my Royal Canin 12+ Cat Food to once again become
available. My older kitty really loves it. I called/e-mailed every source. Chewy
contacted me to say it was back.

Royal Canin Aging
I have a 12 year old senior cat and I finally found something she will actually eat! I love that the kibble is small, as she's very tiny. I had tried Science diet, but she didn't care for it and it made her gassy, even though I gradually mixed her old food with her new. And their kibble was too big. We LOVE this food, but if I did autoship, I would have too much as she also gets canned. Thank you!

Low Phosphorus Food
I like this food for the low phosphorus content. Apollo the cat likes it less but I will continue to mix it with his food! It is almost as low in phosphorus as prescription food and is good for senior kitties and their kidneys!

They like it!
Got this for my 15yr old cat. She seems to like it so far. My other cat who is 20 yrs likes it too when I forget to move it because he should be eating his renal food.

good choice
I have 2 cats over 12 years old and have tried different foods for them. I was concerned about their weight so I tried the Royal Canin. I was amazed at the difference it made. I have noticed a slight weight loss but what really got me was the increase in their energy. They have begun playing again and not sleeping as much (all day) that they had been.
