Description

Spaying or neutering changes a cat's life, and fortunately, so does Royal Canin Spayed/Neutered 12+ Dry Cat Food. Spaying and neutering is a simple operation that has a big effect on hormone levels in cats. And while these changes have many positive outcomes, like a friendlier demeanor and longer life expectancy, there is one challenge. As soon as 48 hours after surgery, changing hormones can cause a cat’s energy needs to decrease by 30% while also causing a 20% rise in appetite. This can lead to significant weight gain. As experts in health nutrition, Royal Canin designed Spayed/Neutered 12+, a specific formula that supplies a range of nutrients to promote healthy aging.

Key Benefits
  • Precisely formulated for spayed or neutered senior cats over the age of 12 years with easy-to-chew kibble.
  • An exclusive complex of antioxidants, including lycopene and omega-3 fatty acids support body systems through the aging process.
  • A moderate level of fat content helps your loved one maintain an ideal body weight.
  • Enriched with L-carnitine plus L.I.P. digestive science innovation that uses protein selected for its high digestibility.
  • Adapted phosphorous levels help to support renal function, as kidney decline is common in senior cats.

    Excellent product

Our 17 yo kitty finds this palatable enough to eat, and she’s been fussy about food for the past few months. We’d been giving her RC Calm kibble for a couple of years, which she previously loved and was helpful with her anxiety. A few other types and brands we tried also didn’t pass muster. Now on the (new to her) Aging 12+ kibble (which includes some of the calming ingredients of the RC Calm kibble), she has had a noticeable improvement in joint comfort: she’s more playful, grooming extensively again, and stretching out more. It’s comforting to know she’s feeling better. Her coat is also looking silkier again. Grateful for Royal Canin and Chewy.

16, going on 17 Senior Cat

Recently (sort of) Buttons got an awful kidney infection (pretty sure she ate something outside and she's just old). Thought I would have to put her down but she pulled through. Then I had to change her diet. She said 'screw you prescription kidney diet'. So I cycled through several foods, initially so she would just eat again. Hated science diet but took to Purina Pro. However, protein was still high for what I wanted and of course phosphorous. Tried a bag of Indoor 7+ and now moving her to 12+ (which is only available online). She is so active again. (She had slowed down some but now she's back getting into trouble, terrorizing the puppy, doing 'drive-bys', and being a general menace the Recently (sort of) Buttons got an awful kidney infection (pretty sure she ate something outside and she's just old). So thanks again, Royal Canin. Little pricey, but worth it since I've had Buttons since I was 7. … more

    Success at last!

My 14 year-old British Shorthair has been boycotting other dried foods for months and losing too much weight too fast, but she took to the Royal Canin 12+ dry cat food immediately without any special introduction. I can hardly believe it!

Finally A Well-Liked Option for Seniors!

    By on

I've tried every senior food out there, and my elders - including the piggy one - don't like them. This includes the nutro brand, the Purina Proplan, and Science Diet. Seniors need something tasty and good for them. I have always had good luck with Royal Canin prescription foods and am ecstatic to find my elders love this one, too.

My cats love it, great for older cats

    By on

I have never seen this in the stores or online before chewy.com I do get this brand and flavor in the thin sliced can, but never the dry form. So glad I tried it for my two aging cats. I give one of them glucosamine every morning recommend from the vet. This food just adds a little more and gives the other cat some too. They both still run around and zoom up the cat tree. Otherwise they limp and look like they are in pain. this food is great! They will be 12 yrs old this March. Doesn't seem old but, I can tell are ageing big time. Glad to help them any way I can.

    great product

    By on

I really think Royal Canin makes wonderful products and puts a lot of research and study into felines . I just opened this bag I ordered a few months ago for my 15 year old kitty . Only good I could get her to eat . She is supposed to be on kidney food , but it’s not very palatable to her . I just opened this and having to put her down this week so I have a full bag of this going to waste as my little kittens shouldn’t eat this . They do enjoy Royal Canin kitten though very much ! I think I’m going to donate it to my local shelter . Hopefully there’s some older kitties in need :) Chewy is wonderful with customer service and selection and so helpful .

Kitty seems to love the food!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I got this food for our 12 yr old kitty. He seems to enjoy the food. He hasn't been eating it for long but he does finish his bowl. I do mix it with Royal Canin Oral care cat food and he eats them both.

    Cats were not excited

    By on

It sounds like the perfect food for my older girls, but they did not care for it. I started out mixing it in with their old food and they stopped eating their kibble. I tried it alone and they wouldn't touch it. After about a week and a half I decided they were not going to have it period. Took it to the local shelter...maybe their cats will know it is an expensive food and will appreciate it!!
