Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • I love this

    By on

I love this food already, and we just started using it. We had been using another brand and the dogs were lukewarm on, and half the time I found myself practically begging them to eat. With this food they scarf it up as soon as it is down and it is better for them than the other stuff. I am so glad Chewy.com carries this brand!

We found our senior Yorkie wouldn't eat her normal food, she really wouldn't even eat her treats. We thought it might be her teeth and bought a couple of cans at a local store and voila, she ate it up!! If your dog is having the same problems, I'd highly suggest trying this food. Our Chloe Belle has a pep in her step again and LOVES the flavor of this food.

  • Little Lady Loves It!

    By on

I used this Royal Canin to transfer my small breed puppy to adult food. It could not have gone better. She LOVES it! To the point of talking to me the whole time I'm getting it ready. Also, I think I can actually see her growing. The products from Royal Canin recommend starting the transfer at 10-11 months & I'm glad I did. Excellent product!

  • Easy Transition in Feeding

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Royal Canin was recommended by friends who are involved in animal welfare. I was prepared for a long transition period from my pets' old food, but they accepted this the first time and loved it.

  • Not a hit with this Dorkie!

    By on

As a Royal Canin purchaser I thought that, after reading the great reviews for this, I would try it for my picky Dorky. Belle wouldn't even touch it! Rather than discard it, I do mix some with other food, and she will eat some, but mostly picks around it! Sorry Royal Canin.

I would not buy again.......... my puppy loves the individual packs........this did not taste the same to her. ............. She would not eat it my fault for trying something different. Will buy only individual packets from now on.

  • Great Dog Food!

    By on

I've recently gone through several brands of dog food trying to find one my dog would eat. Royal Canin was recommended by a family member so I decided to try it. She loves it, cleans the bowl every time and now looks forward to mealtime.

  • Megan loves Royal Canin

It is an easy to open can. No gels, or anything to make it hard to put in a bowl. You just open the can, and put it in your pets dish. Now, watch them love eating it.
