We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Excellent choice for purebred boxers
By Matt on Jan 13, 2021
We switched over to royal canin when we noticed our boxer’s stools were loose and constant, as if he wasn’t properly absorbing nutrients from his previous brand of dog food. After switching to royal canin (which he loves) we noticed higher energy, healthier eating habits, and better bowel movements. He is already putting on healthy muscular weight at 16 months and we’re al happy with this choice. Would recommend if you have issues with your boxer putting on weight.

Only good in theory
By LisaM on Jan 3, 2021
Our 3yo boxer mutt has a severe underbite and odd eating behaviors. We bought this food in hopes that the kibble shape would be easier for her to eat. It did seem to help, though after transition plus another 9+ weeks, it doesn’t sit well with her. Poops are not as healthy and she is having consistent gas. May work better for pure-bred boxers, but not for our mix. For anyone in a similar situation- mixing a little bit of water with her previous limited ingredient dry food helped her eating issues just as much as the larger kibble, without the adverse digestive effect.

Made transitioning food easy
By Stella on Dec 31, 2020
We bought this food to begin the transition from the Boxer puppy formula of Royal Canin and it has been very easy. We started with a 50/50 blend so her digestive system is not to disturbed while she adjusts, but she is actually picking through the bowl for only the bigger kibbles; leaving the smaller puppy formula on the bowl. No big stomach upsets either so we are really happy with how this went and will keep her on the Boxer formula of Royal Canin.

Best boxer food
By Kelsey on Dec 31, 2020
We have a double champion bloodline boxer, and my husband used to work for a try hospital and they were stickler on this breed specific brand. Our boxer has sensitive skin and a sensitive stomach and once we switched to this food it really helped! We save with the auto ship option and love it.
