On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Boxers

Royal Canin's Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Boxers over 15 months.

Ideal muscle mass: Boxers are known to have powerful muscles. This formula helps maintain muscle mass with an appropriate protein content (24% min.) and L-carnitine.

Health cardiac function: Boxers are prone to cardiac sensitivity, so Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food contains specific nutrients including taurine, EPA and DHA to help support healthy cardiac function.

Antioxidant complex: This formula contains an exclusive antioxidant complex to help support cellular health.

Exclusive Kibble

Boxers have a short muzzle with a thick upper lip, and the teeth in their lower jaw are set in a straight line. The wave-shaped kibble of Boxer Adult Dry Dog Food is designed to make it easier for this breed to pick up kibble and helps encourage chewing.

Why Royal Canin?

Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.

Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

  • Best Kibbie Ever

    By on

We are so happy with the Royal Canin Boxer formula kibble. Our Boxers had an issue with the premium brand dry food which we have used for years. They were unable to keep the dry food in their mouth. The Boxer formula is designed in a shape that allows them to chew & keep food in their mouth. Another benefit we have noticed is that they are getting more nutrition and having less waste (poop). They absolutely love the new dry food. We no longer need to coax then to eat.

So glad I tried this food. My boxer loves it! Dinnertime used to be such a mess around our house. Food would be all over the floor, I thought he was just a messy eater until we tried this food. I believe it is specially designed for their jowls, every bite now stays in his mouth. Wish I would of known about it years ago.

  • Not just for Boxers

    By on

A neighbor lost her boxer and had most of a left over bag of this product and passed it along to me to offer to my Borzoi and Silken Windhound. I have a few that are sometimes bored with their usual diet and they were delighted to try this and loved it so much we now have added a bag to our monthly orders. Obviously a quality feed and highly palatable, now a treat in our feeding program.

Our Euro Boxer loves this food. I was purchasing it from a local pet store and decided to look into Chewy.com. I am now paying 20 dollars less a bag plus it is shipped to my door every 4 weeks. Love it! Thanks Chewy.com! I will be recommending chewy.com to other pet owners.

  • First shipment

    By on

Only two stars becuase my first shipment of dog food came with some tiny pin holes in it and not completly vacuum sealed like when you purchase in the store. It doesnt appear to be stale but it makes me worry when Im not sure how fresh it is. Hoping my second shipment and beyond are fine and if so I will update my review to 5 stars because it is a great service deal.

  • Royal Canin Boxer

    By on

Our boxer came to us almost a year old and was no where near what he should have weighed and no muscle. He eats only a scoop of this once a day and is so much healthier in weight and has put on muscle. We were advised to only give a scoop per day from another boxer owner whose pupper gained too much weight! Our boxer loves it, he always comes out of the food bowl with crumbs on his eyebrows!

  • Our boxer LOVES it!

    By on

Our girl is very picky about her food. We have tried many different brands, hoping we would find one she liked. Well, we finally have! I tried switching her over gradually to the Royal Canin, but when I mixed it with her old food, she picked out all the new pieces! We definitely recommend this food and are so glad we gave it a try.
