We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way. We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase. We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food. We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers. We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

The food looks nice and I like that the bag reseals. However once I started feeding my dog this he has been gnawing at his side, arms, and paws. He has done that in the past with other foods he had allergies to.
Our chihuahua is now 12 and is as feisty and energetic as ever. He’s been on Royal Canin Chihuahua mix since birth. We’ve considered other brands or delving into the “make our own food” arena but have stayed with RC. Our veterinarian has consistently backed and recommended Royal Canin. Our pooch is doing so well and maintaining a healthy weight that we see no reason to switch.
My 5 puppies and their mommy loves it. Digest well so far -they have been eating this food for about 6-8 months now. They are active and in great shape. Even mommy is more active now.
Always a pleasure to order from Chewy They offer best products and a huge range of products and delivery is very fast
I have been using this food since 2021 and it was ALWAYS the same size kibble throughout the bag. Our rescue has 5 Chihuahua's, 3 that are 5 lbs and under and 2 that are 8 & 10 lbs. The last bag I ordered has a mixture of the about 50% of normal size small kibble it has always been mixed with 50% of kibble that is double the size of the smaller kibble which the small Chihuahuas cannot eat unless I put food in a ziploc bag and use a hammer to break it smaller which then crushes the smaller pieces that are mixed in which then defeats the purpose of giving dry food to help with tartar control on their teeth. I am looking into another food because this is too expensive to have to do that much work to crush it and use up ziploc bags or spend A LOT MORE TIME picking out the big pieces until I get enough small kibble for the 3 smaller ones. I run two rescue divisions with special needs dogs, cats, horses, rabbit and a parrot (37 animals at this time) on top of work and Boards. I do not have a lot of spare time. This not Chewy's fault but they need to get with the Maker to rectify the situation.
My Chihuahua ( Nova ) loves it. We were having a rough time getting her to eat anything but doggie treats. Our daughter said She give her Dog ( Stella ) Royal Canin for Shepards and we should try it. Now Nova beats her brother Astro finished with her meal and she is gaining a little weight.. Going from 2.9 lbs to a little over 3.2 lbs. It is great.
All of our Chihuahua’s love the kibble size for their small mouths.
Arrived on time with care to the product and my property.
The love of my life Scrappy, lived 18 years on this food so obviously my new baby, Scooby now 2 yrs old is obviously eating the same. It's part genetic & the food absolutely plays a critical role in their health. (Cont'd from Scrappy's caption: He was 17 & a year later yes a whole year she was off.. he ate this food til the end.. he was fine then one evening after taking him outside he was wobbling and I knew, I picked him up crying telling him it's ok to go my mom will be there to meet you and you'll see me again I love you so much & he slowly drifted away in my arms at home. My eyes are flooding now so time to go. I miss my little boy. Jesus what knows how bad our heart aches for loss. I found my beautiful mom brutally murdered at home when I was only 19 she was 41. I now just turned 42 & they finally solved her case. This world can be so cruel. God sent scrappy to me afterwards and he helped me through ALL that pain & to lose him was heart shattering!!! )
I have tried several dry dog foods, but my little girl did not like any of them. She loves cat food. Then, I tried this Royal Canin for Chihuahua, and she loves it. It is the perfect size for her little mouth too.
