My parents Chihuahua is like other Chi's including mine... She is a picky eater and even though she is only 2.8lbs my parents have spent lots of money on small bags of food, for her to not eat half of it! They even were putting good non cooked food on it to get her to eat food! Yes my parents could have done raw with her as she does not eat much but she truly gets bad tummy trouble on lots of "ok" foods (yes like carrots, apples and she refuses to eat berries!) and my parents felt it was a bit easier to keep her on kibble as they are getting older to keep down the tummy problems. She only eats a 1/4 cup twice daily so you can see a small bag goes a LONG WAY! I was not happy with the food having so much more grain then I want in it BUT being in the grooming business I have talked with lots of people who feed Breed specific Royal Canin with wonderful outcomes! The little said dog has been on it for about a week now and my parents say she gobbles it right up! They still do Kiefer every other day but the days/meals she has dry, she licks the dish clean. When my dogs have finished all the excess food here, I will be putting my Chihuahua on it as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OneHappyMama Long story short: Picky chihuahua no more!!
I adopted my chihuahua 3 months ago and have since battled trying to get her to gain weight despite her pickiness. I tried 3 different protein grain-free formulas by very reputable brands, crumbling treats over food, adding pumpkin, adding fish oil, adding the smallest amount of wet food to the food. She would just pick and spit it out, I'd be lucky if she ate 1/4c a day despite feeding 1/2c. She would literally starve herself to the point of vomiting bile, and I was at my wits end. I recently decided to try this product since it came in 2.5 bag and was sick of wasting food. To my surprise, she LOVES it. She gets so excited for meal time now and actually has gained a little TOO much weight. She's already up from 4.2# to 6.3# at 1/3c twice daily, and I recently cut back to 1/4c twice daily, and we're only halfway through the bag. Based on my vets recommendation, I ignored the grain free hype and it's the best decision I've made!

I have an older Chihuahua, a rescue, and she likes the food and took to it well. She would still rather have leftovers....but what dog wouldn't? Real beef!
I love chewy.com!!!

Our vet recommended this food and we've been feeding it to our chihuahuas for two years now. It's a great blend that keeps them healthy, with shiny coats. They love the taste, too. When we switched our girl from puppy food to this, the first time we gave her a half and half mix. She picked out all the puppy food (not Royal Canin) and left it on the floor uneaten so she could eat the Royal Canin. It's more expensive than some other foods, but the little pieces are great for our dogs and they seem to think it's some kind of crack. The other day, I caught our girl licking the outside of the bag.
Chewy's price was very competitive based on where we usually buy it, and the shipping was pretty fast and easy. Will buy from here again.
***Note: Be sure to check with your vet about how much to feed. The amounts on the back of the bag per weight are a little high. We were giving too much food and as such, our girl put on a little weight. After consulting the vet, we adjusted the amount and the weight issue was resolved.
