Royal Canin Chihuahua Puppy Dry Dog Food, 2.5-lb bag

This Royal Canin formula is designed exclusively for pure breed Chihuahua puppies from 8 weeks to 8 months. Chihuahua puppies tend to be picky eaters, making it difficult to ensure the right nutrition for healthy development. Plus, they are less able to digest proteins, resulting in fermentation in the intestinal tract. This is why it's important to feed a diet that is tailor-made to their specific needs.

This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.
Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition
From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:
Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.
Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.
Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.
Breed Specific Formulas
Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.
Formulated for Chihuahua Puppies
Royal Canin's Chihuahua Puppy Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Chihuahua puppies from 8 weeks to 8 months.

High palatability: Chihuahuas are known for their fussy appetites, so they need a highly palatable food to be fully satisfied. Chihuahua Puppy Dry Dog Food contains a careful selection of exceptional aromas and flavors along with a customized kibble size and shape.
Stool & odor reduction: Chihuahua Puppy Dry Dog Food helps reduce fecal smell and volume and support healthy digestion with highly digestible proteins, an appropriate fiber content and high-quality carbohydrate sources.
Natural defenses: During the growth period, Chihuahua puppies' natural defenses are not yet fully developed. This formula includes an exclusive complex of antioxidants including vitamins E and C, lutein and taurine to maintain their natural defenses.

Exclusive Kibble
Chihuahua Puppy Dry Dog Food features kibble designed with the optimal size and texture for Chihuahuas' miniature jaws and slightly pointed muzzles.

Why Royal Canin?
Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.
Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

My chihuahua loves this
By Kathleen30 on Feb 10, 2021
My little girl stuck her nose up at several leading brands. She wasn’t gaining the weight she needed to and I was worried about her. I saw this bag and saw the price tag, and swallowed the $$$ factor. My little girl for the past 2 months since I switched loves to eat and has been putting weight on. I am thankful that someone made a chihuahua specific bread puppy food.

I highly recommend this food
By Misa on Feb 1, 2021
My 3 mont old chihuahua mix loves her new food! It’s a perfect size for her tiny mouth. When I adopted her from the shelter they were feeding her this big dry kibble that was so hard for her to chew and break down. She loves her new food. Her coat looks really nice and shiny.

New puppy loves it
By MaryBoise on Jan 31, 2021
I brought a new puppy home from a local shelter. My sister gave me some kibble from a high end brand that she had for her small breed pup, but my girl barely nibbled at it. However, when I put this in her bowl, she ate it right up! Clearly it is the right combo for chihuahuas.

Very satisfied
By Janice on Jan 16, 2021
Our chihuahua puppy has been using this for 3 months and she has grown to be a very beautiful puppy. Smooth and bright fur, fast response and most importantly, she loves this food! I use hot water to soften the food and that doesn’t reduce its favor at all.

Chihuahua Puppy Dry Dog Food
By ChiPupfood on Jan 30, 2021
Its great for my Chihuahua PUPPIES. Unfortunately I run a rescue, and have seven puppies right now. A 2 1/2 pound bag does not last more than 2 days. Need to package larger quantities.
