This Royal Canin formula is designed exclusively for pure breed Cocker Spaniels over 12 months. The Cocker Spaniel’s beautiful, wavy long ears can prevent adequate airflow in the ears and contribute to ear problems and skin infections. Cocker Spaniels are also more likely to suffer from vision problems and cataracts, and have a tendency to gain weight. This is why it's important to feed a diet that is tailor-made to their specific needs.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Why Pure Breed Dogs Need Tailored Nutrition

From their personalities to their distinctive physiologies, pure breed dogs have unique characteristics that make them sought-after and beloved companions. When choosing a formula, it's important to keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed including:

Face and Jaw: All dogs fall into two basic jaw types: Brachycephalic or mesocephalic. Breeds with short, broad muzzles (like Bulldogs) are examples of a brachycephalic jaw. Breeds with a longer muzzle (like Labrador Retrievers) are examples of mesocephalic breeds. The jaw type, and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: The skin's most important function is to serve as a barrier of protection-but not all breeds have the same skin type. From wrinkled and folded (which traps heat and moisture) to sensitive or water resistant, precise levels of key nutrients help to support a breed's unique skin health needs.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From the color and texture to undercoats, each pure breed dog has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every dog is unique. From the small, flat-faced Pug to the obesity-prone Labrador Retriever, Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition is tailor-made to address the unique needs of pure breed dogs. These breed specific formulas benefit from the latest Royal Canin research on the selection of the best protein sources, unique nutrients and tailor-made kibbles.

Formulated for Cocker Spaniels

Royal Canin's Cocker Spaniel Adult Dry Dog Food is designed exclusively for pure breed Cocker Spaniels over 12 months.

Healthy skin & coat: Food plays an important part in maintaining skin and coat health. Cocker Spaniel Adult Dry Dog Food supports the skin's role as a barrier with an exclusive comple of nutrients, and helps maintain skin and coat health.

Ideal weight: Excess weight gain can affect the health of Cocker Spaniels, so an appropriately balanced food is necessary for their health. Cocker Spaniel Adult Dry Dog Food helps maintain their ideal weight.

Healthy cardiac function: Cocker Spaniels are prone to cardiac sensitivity, so this formula helps maintain the health of the cardiac muscle.

Exclusive Kibble

Cocker Spaniels have a broad and deep muzzle and square, even jaws. This kibble has been adapted to make grasping easier while encouraging chewing.

Why Royal Canin?

Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.

Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

    Love this food!

    By on

Love the food. My cocker loves it too. I mix it with hot water and she loves "the gravy". She has been a picky eater in the past but no issues with this food. Love chewy , never had issues . Awesome customer service. The hiccup we had (with this delivery only...never happened before) is that it took a week to get the food. That was unexpected.

    Not for sensitive digestive systems

    By on

This food didn’t sit well with my cocker; upset her digestive system. However, normally she swallows her food like there’s no tomorrow, but with this kibble she did slow down to chew, so that was a plus. It was super easy to process a return though!

    Satisfied Customer

    By on

I am satisfied with this product. I was cautious at first to try this product ever since the latest news related to the potential harm within some Dog food product was released by the FDA. Our doggies are very satisfied with their new food: they appear to enjoy the taste as well as the crunchiness. This product was recommended to me by my Vet especially after viewing the results of the research performed by the FDA related to Dog Food.

Finally a food that agrees with my Cockers!

    By on

Our dogs have had runny stool for months! We’ve tried everything, every food out there. Our Vet recommended staying away from grain-free foods because of heart concerns, then offered up Royal Canin as a good option. We chose the Cocker formula and our 3 pups have been amazing ever since... Their coats, their appetites, and now a firm stool! On top of that, the pups stool is substantially less! Almost 1/3 less than the $60+ big name brands! A win-win for my three Cockers!

    Good Stuff

    By on

Our Cocker loves Royal Canin. When we first got him the food we were using was not his favorite. He would eat it, but it would take all day for him to do so. Since switching to Royal Canin he has it finished in a matter of minutes, not a day. We highly recommend it. Plus, ships quickly. We received it two days after ordering.

    Chicken by-product

    By on

I was looking for a product that would work for the breed and I believe it does a good job with that (nutritional aspect for health concerns of Cocker's). BUT I didn't read closely enough to the ingredient list. I was turned off by the chicken by-product ingredient. It's questionable that other companies are using whole meat product, so it may not make a difference for you. I wish there was more honesty in the industry for consumers to make better choices. Great price for the amount of specialized food.
