This Royal Canin formula is designed exclusively for pure breed Dachshunds over 10 months. The Dachshund’s signature physique demands superior bone and joint support to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Since the breed also has a tendency to gain weight, keeping the Dachshund at a healthy weight can also help to alleviate additional stress on their skeletal structure and joints. We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

Sofie loves her food
By Sofiesmom on Feb 24, 2021
This is truly great dog food. Sofie loves it. It has never upset her tummy and no foul smelling poops. She has great energy and her fur is soft and has not caused any skin issues. We love it! It may be more expensive than some other foods, but it's worth it. I love that it is specifically formulated for dachshunds and their needs.

He likes it
By Spiritsword on Feb 16, 2021
Tried Royal Caine for a medium Dachshund. He didnt hesitate and are it right up. My only complaint was someone cut through the clear tape and punctured the bag. It was done on purpose. 1 inch slit right through the clear tape into the bag.

Royal Dachshunds!
By Mellie on Jan 3, 2021
Our Vet suggested ROYAL CANIN teckel for our Dachshunds. She stressed the rigorous standards for the ingredients, testing for bacteria and balance of nutrition. Our dogs really enjoy this food and we often use it for treats, also. We purchase the largest bag for the price savings. And even though it costs a little bit more, our rescue Dachshunds are truly treated like Royality!

MMMM They love it
By Biscuit on Jan 18, 2021
My doggies love this food. They were eating a soft food mix because I couldn't find a hard food they liked as unbelievable as it sounds I think they like this food better than the soft food mix I was making them! And it's better for them too. Thanks Chewy!

Too expensive
By Roxannethewitch13 on Jan 31, 2021
Fido likes this product but $19 for two pounds is crazy when the number one ingredient is chicken "by product". Not sure how I missed it or why this lines so expensive when the ingredients are subpar

By Cindy on Dec 11, 2020
My Dachshunds love this food they really injoy it, my cats won't stay out of their food either, should make a cat food like this, then maybe the cats would leave the dogs food alone.

5+ years with this food - AMAZING
By 809housewife on Sep 13, 2020
I have been feeding my 10-year-old Dachshund this food for 5+ years (we switched to the Senior formula of this for a little but they don't sell the 10lb bag in the Senior, bummer.) and he still loves it. I have never had a problem with him being picky or not wanting to eat this. I feed him the directed amount on the bag with a splash of unsalted chicken broth to soften it up for extra flavor and vitamins. I always get compliments on how beautiful his coat is and how young he looks and acts, I attribute this 100% to his food. This stuff is awesome! It's a little on the more expensive side but it is worth every penny. I will be a Royal Canin customer for life!

My doxie loves it
By doxiemom on Oct 19, 2020
I received this food yesterday and my doxie went nuts for it. He usually shies away from kibble but he gets excited for meal time now. I'm so pleased that there is a formula especially formulated for dachshunds. Will definitely order again.
