We recommend at least a 7-day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

She likes them but Not sure yet for weight
By Grizzlyluna on Feb 2, 2021
My cat liked them immediately, didn’t have to mix with her favorite dry food, she ate. I devide her one day potion into 3-4 and give her through out a day. On the first day she only ate 3/4 of her food, left some on her plate. Came back for more later. Took her few hours to finish each potion inserted of finishing in 3 minutes. Didn’t ask any more food on the end of the day, like she used to do. On 4th day she start asking more each time. The food probably lower cal. than the food she used to ate, but she start eating the same pace as she used to do. She crunches instead of swallow, which is great as this one is bigger. Her litter doesn’t smell much, which is another good thing. Her appetite My cat liked them immediately, didn’t have to mix with her favorite dry food, she ate. We will see if her weight is down or not on the next vet visit. I will keep feeding Royal canin appetite control food to my cat. … more

Picky Kitty
By Pegs on Feb 18, 2021
I have a large 6 year old cat that showed up on my porch when he was around 2. He's a very picky eater. The only food he really liked was discontinued. I had high hopes for this one, because of the reviews. No luck. He ate one piece, looked at me and walked away. He will eat wet food. I will continue the search for a new dry.

My cats love this
By AmyF on Dec 4, 2020
For a "diet" cat food, my cats seem to really love this! I have 3 and they all gobble it up. It says it's supposed to be appetite control. It's too soon to see results - two of them need to lose weight, but they definitely like eating this. When I was trying to choose between several diet cat foods, I put a little in each bowl and this was the one they liked best!

My Cats Love It
By BaileyGirl on Dec 27, 2020
I tried this without mixing it with anything else, and they loved it immediately. They are very picky but this was a real hit with them, and it's low calorie! I've already added it to my auto ship plan. Highly recommend.

Everything needed in nutrition

Slowly transitioning from Kitten to adult food. He seems to like it and it has slowed down his appetite. Encouraged.

Funky smell, but it works
By kpdino on Sep 15, 2020 top1000Contributor
Really funky smell - almost like seaweed? But the big donut shape slows my fast-eating cat down, and she rarely cleans out her bowl after each feeding (which never ever happened with her previous food - she would wolf it down). Cat has also stopped begging between feedings - we love the extra sleep! Didn't expect this to make as big of a difference as it did. We are now slowly reducing her feed amount to help her shed a bit of weight, but she has maintained/slimmed down since switching to this food (we were feeding her a mix of this and her previous for a while to acclimate her). It's a little pricier but is lasting longer than the bag of other food which was larger (but the pieces were tiny) Really funky smell - almost like seaweed? Royal Canin Appetite Control passed the taste test
By Meandmycat on Oct 17, 2020
My two cats love Royal Canin Appetite Control. They like it better than regular cat food. If they approve, does anything else matter?
