We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Great food those needing special nutrition
By Kimzcatties on Feb 24, 2021
The only food my 8 month old kitten will eat and we have tried everything. She was thrown from a car at just weeks old and needed a good nutritional food. This really helped her gain much needed weight and gave her a beautiful coat. Her poops also vanished. I recommend!!!!

My kittens LOVE the slices in gravy
By cskipper3 on Jan 9, 2021
All of the cats I’ve had through the years would happily gobble up any wet food I gave them, but my two new kittens love the Royal Canin slices in gravy for kittens far and beyond any other brand or type of wet food, and believe me, I’ve tried everything. I’m not crazy about the ingredients in this but these guys don’t even like any of the ultra premium, grain free, no by-product brands or flavors. They don’t even like the pate version of RC’s kitten food! They came to me from the foster eating the slices in gravy so it might be why. They get one can in the morning and one in the evening and then dry Blue Buffalo Wilderness kitten, which they also love, to snack on during the day. Only thing kittens will eat
By BarbaraL on Dec 25, 2020
I don't know what is in this kitten food, but mine love it. I rescued two kittens from a dumpster. Who knew they would grow up with expensive taste. When I first got them to foster I was given a six pack of Royal Canin Pate, and I used as a slurry during weaning along with their KMR. Then they began to eat just the pate, until I made the mistake of buying the Chicken Slices. At that point everything changed and they refuse to eat any canned but that. My pocketbook said I couldn't afford RC, and so I switched brands, offered, they refused, I threw out ... again, again, and again through many brands. I now have it on autoship from Chewy which saves a few pennies. In six months they will I don't know what is in this kitten food, but mine love it. I rescued two kittens from a dumpster. I feed canned morning and night, with supplemental dry food in between. Happy and healthy kittens! Don't be like me and waste your money throwing out the cheaper stuff. … more

Picky kitty
By MonkeysMom on Jan 19, 2021
When I got my kitten I tried him in strictly Blue Buffalo wet and dry. He loved the dry food right away and still does but I later found out he didn’t like wet patté so I did some research and this little chunk wet food got some good reviews and highly recommended. I gave it a shot and my kitten now loves his wet food again. I would suggest this for a picky wet food eater.

Loved by our kitten
By Daisy on Jan 15, 2021
Our kitten cries for the wet food. Whenever we feed her the dry food in the morning, she isn’t happy. We switched to half the can in the morning with some dry and the other half at night with the other half of her dry food. Before, we came up with this plan, she would turn her nose up at her dry and then go try to eat the dog’s dry food. Go figure!

Kittens Approve
By DvoraS on Jan 25, 2021
We adopted two rescue kittens (brothers) and tried a few different brands. This is their approved brand by far! Cecil and Chuckie (aka the Thundering Nerds) LOVE it! They love the chicken flavor; turn their noses up at anything with seafood. Very discriminating palates. LOL!

Tasty but gassy
By AFrayedKnot on Dec 31, 2020
We went through a period of trying different brands and flavors of food for our kitten, and we found that although our kitten loved this food (always completely devoured it), it made him terribly gassy. We stopped giving it to him for several weeks, and recently tried again, and immediately it gave him has. So, if your kitten doesn't get gas from this food, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Must be good stuff.
By oldcatlady on Jan 30, 2021
My 4 month old kitten, Harold, likes it better than the other wet foods I have tried. He seems to like the slices' texture. Most of the time he eats every morsel. If he leaves even the smallest bit my two year old cat, Adel, will be waiting to gobble that up. It must be Good.

Not sure on this
By Tree on Dec 19, 2020
purchased for our two 5 month kittens. They were previously fed the Mother & Baby Cat canned and dry food, recommended through first 4 months, which they loved. This formula is the next step. They love the dry formula but neither cares for this canned flavor. I assume the food quality is good and morsels are the right size for kittens. For some reason, they just don't prefer the flavor. I'm going to try the other flavor option Royal Canin offers. Hopefully with better results.

my kitten Yoda loves this
By CatandDogPartner on Jan 4, 2021
I tried a different high quality kitten food 1st but Yoda wasn't enthusiastic. When I open the can of Royal Canin, his head is always in the way & I don't want to get the wet food on it so I move from counter to counter--but his head is right there, ready to dig in. The smell is nice too.
