Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Great for that one cat...

By DFFFF on Dec 12, 2020

I have three little monsters, two of which are in great shape. One of them is eleven years old and is used to being able to eat when she wants which is important because she's six pounds full grown. Cat number two is a Bengal and he's always had access to food at all times, he's also in excellent condition. Cat number three is a rescue who was getting a bit on the chunk side and approaching two years old. Every morning they get breakfast of wet food before I go to work or when I get up on my days off. Number three was beginning to really pack on some weight with the Royal Canin sensitive stomach that other two get (the dry food is also RC sensitive stomach). I switched number three to this weight I have three little monsters, two of which are in great shape. Cat loves it

By Shayde on Dec 11, 2020

I am a very overweight cat and am hoping to shed weight with this food. I've only added it to my diet recently but I have been feeling a bit more energetic lately, which is nice, I'm 8 and really need to stop lounging on the couch all day and this food tastes as good as some of the higher calorie cans my roommate has presented me with in the past. She seems pleased.

    He loves it

By Teddy on Sep 29, 2020

I have always loved the way my pets' coats and health are with Royal Canin and although I avoided it with all of the 'grain free' craze, my vet encouraged me to not go grain free. My little guy is a rescue and totally afraid to be picked up, so getting him to the vet to keep the prescription Royal Canin filled wasn't happening. I happened to see at Unleashed that they were making a non rx weight control food, and he absolutely loves it, completely cleans the bowl every time....

Pricey but my fat cat is getting skinny

By lori on Sep 14, 2020

My cat can now officially get the dental work she needs because this food has helped her lose the weight she needs to be able to go under anesthesia. All the cats want her food because it appears to be super tasty. It's very expensive though, in my opinion.

    Kitty’s favorite

By Tishka on Apr 18, 2020

I purchased this food opposed to regular one because my 1 year old kitty has gained a little too much weight after being on the kitten food and constantly being spoiled by me with additional treats (guilty). Now, I’m trying to undo what I’ve done by portion control and lower calories food. Kitty really likes it which is a big relief cause it is a transition for her and it’s somewhat a diet food. And I’m hoping to bring her to a healthier weight soon.

Wish UL thin slices in gravy came in 5.8 oz can

By Athena on Mar 20, 2020

My cat loves the ultralight thin slices in gravy but it only comes in a 3 ounce can so I tried this 5.8 ounce ultralight loaf in sauce because it’s more economical (save about 30%) to buy larger cans. I appreciate that it’s light for a loaf compared to a DM brand I tried by my vet. My cat will eat it but does not have as much gusto as it does for the thin slices in gravy. She will eat 2 of the 3 ounce cans/day easily but I end up stashing some of the other larger can of the loaf because she tires of it. Royal Canin- please consider making a 5.8 ounce can of the ultralight thin slices in gravy !!!
