We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Feline Weight Loss
By FrankAndGibbs on Jan 14, 2021
Both of my cats have been 'ordered' to lose some pounds, so I went on a search for kitty diet food. One of your staff told me about the Royal Canin Weight Care canned food (vet said no dry food at all), so I gave a case of that a try after it came back in stock. Both boys ate it right up - 2 cans/cat/day. Unfortunately, when I went to add it to my auto-ship order, it was out of stock again, so I'm waiting for notification that it's back in stock. After only 1 case between the 2 cats, it's impossible to tell if it helps with the weight loss, but I'm hopeful!

Great healthy weight option!
By Yummmy on Jan 13, 2021
The vet recommended a variety of healthy weight cat foods so I bought a can of each brand that I could find at the local pet store to see which one he would like. This was one of the ones he chose as his favorite! He loves it because it’s not pasty like some of the other brands with corn meal fillers. He won’t eat any wet food with corn meal. This food has a savory gravy that both my cats love with lean meat bites! So I promptly ordered a case from chewy!

My cat devours it
By AnotherDay on Feb 2, 2021
The heading for my review almost says it all. The other is that it shipped really fast. Placed order and two days later it was on my doorstep. The website was easy to navigate and easy to place the order.

Our over-weight cat likes this variety, although she prefers kibble
By MJPMaryland on Aug 20, 2020
Of the four wet foods we have tried to coax Bethany to eat (she prefers kibble), the three varieties that are favored by her are the Royal Canin varieties. We will be re-ordering this variety as well as the two other Royal Canin low-calorie wet foods.

We have a cat that needs to lose weight. I’ve been having difficulty finding a wet food that he will eat. He loves this one. Eats the whole can quickly and asks for more.

Kitty Ambrosia!
By TwinkleToes on Jun 24, 2020
Royal Canin Feline Weight Care formula thin slices and gravy was a most pleasant surprise. My two girls are very picky about their food, especially weight control formulas, but they tucked into this offering with gusto! Heads into their dishes, they didn't look up until they had licked their bowls spotlessly clean! Thank you, Chewy.com, for making this food available at a reasonable and affordable price. My girls are happy campers, and so am I.
