OVERPRICED
Admittedly my own fault as I didn't notice it said you're paying $10 for 8 grams... the packet is the size of my palm. I'm a petite female who still shops in the children's section - that gives you an idea of the size of my palm. This is nothing but a pH balance testing strips made into pellets - if anybody has had to test the water in a pool with pH strips - same thing but made into pellets. For $10 I could've bought an entire pack of pH strips that would last multiple times longer than this overpriced tablespoon of pellets. Whatever disdain I had for Royal Canin (and it was pretty intense - their food is absolute overpriced trash) has just been multiplied. Especially considering the fact that I had previously bought an entire 8oz bag of this from another company 6 years ago (the company sold out so they're not possible to find anymore) for $12. Just to reiterate that - I bought 4 times MORE product than this Royal Canin garbage for $12... This company needs sued to death for price gouging and trash products.
Excellent product
We had these on hand for our 2 senior kitties with kidney disease, however they likely saved our third kitty's life. He started having unusual box behavior seemingly suddenly (on a Friday night of course) so I sprinkled these, turned blue and off to the emergency vet he went. Turned out a near complete blockage of his urethra; we had no idea he had bladder stones! Not sure he would have made it through the weekend without intervention. We're *very* grateful for these. I would highly recommend having these around, especially with senior kitties. The bag is small but our boys have favorite spots in the box so I concentrated them around there. Alternatively, if your cat has an accident outside the box you can drop one of these in there to see if there might be an issue causing the behavior.
Didn't work for us
My cat was suffering with a UTI and the Hematuria Detection Litter Granules did not turn blue. I could tell he was suffering so we took him to the vet. The urinalysis did detect blood in his urine and he was prescribed Clavamox.
Amazing Product
So when I placed an order for Royal Canin feline fiber response dry cat food, I was offered this product for free. I was a little sceptical but decided to try it. Boy am I glad I did because this product is amazing and easy to use. This product alerts pet parents to issues their pet maybe having unbeknownst to them by color changing pellets to alert if there's blood, etc in the toileting. Thank God no change for Charlie but I'm pleased to know that I have a really great product to help if there ever is a problem. I would definitely recommend this company and product.
Great Idea but keep peroxide away from them:)
I love this idea but I introduced a false negative. I was pretty nervous, having 6 cats and not knowing who it might be. Then I remembered I sprayed some peroxide under the litter box. So I tested my theory and a peroxide mist does turn them light blue green:) It doesn't take a direct spray either.
Hematuria Detection
I think this product is a great idea. My cat has a history of crystals in his bladder and he's on an expensive prescribed kidney diet. This is an inexpensive way for me to check if it's working and he's not in pain. So happy there is no blood in his urine!
Good news?
Either he does not have blood in his urine or it doesn't work. I am hoping it is the former. It is simple to use and blends well with the other litter.
Does not work at all
My poor kitty is having bladder issues. I used this in hopes of detecting an issue before it became inflamed and painful. This morning her box is full of red drops of blood (we leave for the vet soon) but not one spot of blue.
Helpful but smart amount to cover a big little box
This product is working. A good home test for any concerns about urine problems. It reacts quickly and the color remains. I only wish it will have more in one single package. I have a big litter box and my cat is a digger lover, I failed to see the results because no these white particles contact with the urine.
Use these to see if your cat has a medical problem
These little pearls are made so that when you scatter them in your litter box they can let you know if there is blood in the urine. They are very easy to use and the price is very nice.
