Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Our 10 1/2 yr old Papillon dog loves this food. Generally he has to gradually adjust to a new food, this one he devoured, it’s a nice small bite size that’s great for his small mouth. We often have our grand-dog here, a 2 lb chihuahua and she is able to eat it easily as well.

  • 11-year-Pommie girl LOVES it...

    By on

I have given my Lucy Liu every dry food you can imagine. I also give her a dab of wet food with each meal; however, she LOVES this Royal Canin dry food and prefers it over her wet food. She will come to me each time she is hungry and I'll put down a serving of her wet food and she just stares at me like, "Um, no mom, this is not what I want!" Then I put down a small scoop of her Royal Canin and she gobbles it up! I have never had a dog love dry food so much. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  • Great for dogs who are not very active

    By on

My two Yorkies and a Chiwawa love this food. My vet recomended it because it would make them full without over eating. My Chiwawa has trimed down nicely. Still working on one yorkie who thinks she should eat every couple hours, but she is looking better. Highly recomend for dogs over 7 years old.

Great for indoor dogs with great nutrients but my dog gained a lot of water weight due to the extra hydration in the food and her pee is a lot more than usual

  • Hula loves it

    By on

My 11 year old Bichon-Yorkie, Hula, loves this food. I call it her Cheerios because of the shape of the food. I supplement this food with her regular Royal Canin Yorkie food and she would definitely prefer this all the time.
