Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

  • Very helpful to keeping kitties trim, slim and playful

    By on

I should have never let my cat eat any other dry food. He was slim and trim until I started experimenting with other kinds of dry foods (which supplements his wet food). It was a BIG mistake! Now I HAVE to feed him low calorie food because he got so FAT on all the other wet and dry foods I tried him on, and it happened very fast. I know everyone loves their kitties and wants the best nutrition for them and all those dry foods just have to be tried at least once, but take it from someone who knows and spent a boatload of money in the process, this is a great product that doesn't contribute to making TUBBIES out of all our loved ones. The ultra low calorie wet food is awesome too.

  • My Overeater

    By on

My sweet kitty has a tendency to want to eat all the time...and just like us, she has added a few too many pounds. The Vet told me to try to get her to lose a few pounds....well that isn't going to be easy, since she is finicky, so I found a cat food that she likes. We will see how she does on this weight care cat food.

  • Orange tabby eats it

    By on

Luke needs to lose a few lbs so I tried it and he likes it. Sometimes I add water and he will munch it later after it swells up and softens. He likes the Royal Canin brand of dry foods. His preference is Royal Canin brand Hairball Remedy so I limit his qty to lower kcal count. Wet food is best for losing weight so I always have him start out with fancy feast chunky chicken. Yeah he's trained me over the last 18 months and worse thing is he comes home at night smelling like perfume on his fur and I'm not even his owner.

  • The kitties didn't like it

    By on

To wean them over to weight control formula, I mixed 75% Indoor Adult Formula with the Weight Control Formula. Our 2 Maine Coons and a stray picked out the Adult Indoor formula and ate it while leaving the weight control formula.

  • My Rescue Loves This

    By on

My almost 10 year old rescue loves to eat so decided to give Royal Canin Weight Care a try. To me, it doesn't seem like diet food because our cat asks for seconds.
