Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Great but, always out of stock.

    By on

My, cats really love this unfortunately, twice that I have gone to order it, it has been out of stock. If, this item is so popular it needs to be kept in stock. Due, to this misfortune I will be checking Pet Smart and other online deliveries and order from there. It, would have been a five star but, due to its unavailability, I am unable to give it five.

    Pretty Good

Our vet told us we needed to put our "senior cat" (he's still our baby) on food for older cats. Our kitty has finally accepted his new food, but I wish there was more food, and especially more gravy in it.

    Customer Review

    By on

Our 9 1/2 year old Norwegian Forest Cat had never had moist food, although, Royal Canin Satiety dry food has been his daily diet. Vet wanted more moisture in Dewey's diet, so the instinctive 7 + is perfect.......but we have had to do a little extra transitioning, as Dewey misses the crunchy dry food.....we are very satisfied with the products and customer service.....thank you.

    Yummy Yummy

My cat loves this food! This is by far his favorite Royal Canin flavor. I wish they would sell extra gravy, because I think that is why he likes this one more than the other - it seems to have more gravy.

    Excellent canned cat food

I have a Siamese cat with a very sensitive and very small stomach, he tends to throw up a lot, so i was looking for something that does not aggravate his stomach. I find this brand and particular item very good for him.

    Delicious and easy to eat

    By on

My kitten has special medical needs, lots of special medical needs. He has to eat wet food and a low-fat, easily digestible diet. Royal Canin Intensive 7+ thin slices is a huge favorite for him. He loves this stuff and is happy to eat it. I can’t say the same with other foods we’ve given him.

    Cats love this stuff

    By on

3 of our cats love this stuff. It seems like it's always the first to go when we get our autoship. It's on the pricey side but or vet told use to feed them the mature food.
