FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

  • Perfect food for kittens

    By on

My kitten eats this food very good. I see that he likes it. This food smells very good and has many nutritions that little kitty needs. If you use this food you do not need to worry about vitamins and other healthy ingredients that needs little kitten when he/she is growing. I would recommend this food for little kitty parents.

  • Kitten likes it

My kitten likes this just fine. He didn't like the loaf in sauce as much, though. I think he likes the little chunks. It does smell terrible and later produces an equally terrible litter box odor, but I want to make sure he gets the proper nutrition, so I can deal with it for the kitten stage.

  • Can't tell

    By on

Our new kitten was only eating dry food when we bought from breeder. Knowing cats can benefit from also having wet food we decided to try some. He loves the same brand dry food but doesn't seem to rush to the wet. I think it will take some time.

  • Bayley Loves it

We got Bayley at 3 months old she was a stray kitten. We brought her into our home and started feeding her Royal Canin Thin Slices and loaf as well as the Royal Canin dry food. This is the only food we have feed her. She loves it all. We sometimes mix the wet with dry and sometimes give it to her separate either way she loves it. Bayley is a great kitten now 7 mths old she is an indoor cat that has been neutered and she has the softest and shiniest fur. I will continue to use this food for her its perfect

  • I feel good feeding this to my kittens

    By on

I think it 's so important to make sure kittens get a good start with food that is high quality and contains ingredients to help them grow and develop. This food seems to provide what I think it should so I am very pleased. And I always love the convenience of Chewy!

  • Kitty Loves It + A Quality Product

    By on

During the first two months I had my kitten Socrates, I tried every grain-free kitten food on the market. He turned his cute little nose up at every single one. I tried every trick in the book to make him eat. I researched, I begged, I emailed a cat behaviorist for tips and nothing seemed to work. A friend encouraged me to stop being the "perfect" pet parent, and to find a healthy alternative that worked for both me and Socrates. Enter Royal Canin. Socrates loves it, he has started waking me up every morning just a few minutes before my alarm clock goes off to be fed Royal Canin. And I feel comfortable giving it to him because it is still a high quality food. • Royal Canin for Royal Kitties

    By on

My cats think they're royalty and they love this stuff. They prefer the kitten instinctive thin slices over the kitten instinctive loaf. I just wish that Royal Canin had this in 5.8 oz as well, but it's only available in 3 oz.

We started our Persian kitten on this Royal Canin kitten food and it's the only thing he eats! He gobbles it up and cannot wait until the next feeding. We are happy with this brand and so pleased with the price on chewy.com

  • My Cat Loves This!

My kitten is a very picky eater. I was originally giving her the loaf version of this food but she prefers the texture of this one way better. She also has a sensitive stomach so this works well for her.
