This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Pup with Chronic Kidney Disease
By Rose on Feb 12, 2021
This is the only food that my 65 lb 11 year old pup with chronic kidney disease will eat. We have tried everything every brand prescription and home cooked and this is all he will eat. His critical numbers from blood test are heading in the right downward direction I mix phosphorous binder and Kidney Gold Support into the food with a bit of water and he licks the plate Doing the happy dance that he is eating since loss of appetite is part of kidney disease

Love this food
By Deebee on Jan 21, 2021
My toy poodle will be 14 in May. At her last dental appointment, she had to have some teeth removed. She has always been on dry food and has always been free fed. We decided to start giving her wet food and had a really hard time finding just the right one. After researching many, many brands, we decided on Royal Canin. She absolutely loves it and I can see a difference in her already. She is more active and is back to playing with her toys. The only problem is we are unable to free feed with this. She gobbles it up as soon as she gets it :)

Great for no-teeth-having, old fur babies!
By hellocee on Jan 2, 2021
Our dog (12 yo chi mix) had dental surgery a couple of months ago and unfortunately, she had a good amount of her teeth taken out. We were feeding her dry kibble before her surgery and then transitioned her onto wet food. I tried some other brands of wet food, and she would either not finish it or would throw it back up. After researching more recommendations for wet foods for seniors, we decided to bite the bullet with the price and try out Royal Canin for mature dogs. She loves this stuff!!! We've had her on Royal Canin (just by itself as a meal) now for about 2 weeks and haven't seen any of the digestive issues or rejection that we were seeing with other wet foods. Learn how to pack
By Scott on Jan 31, 2021
The third shipment in a row where the case of dog food must have been dropped -- 1/2 of the cans are dented and 4 of them actually exposed to the air and needed to be thrown away. Not sure if I am going to use chewy anymore -- sad they they do not pack well (also had this happen with my cat food) -- so a bit more expensive with costco but .....

Has helped my elderly boy!
By Palepony on Jan 8, 2021
I am on my 3rd case of this. My elderly dog had seemed to lose his appetite and was getting very thin. I bought a case of this and started mixing it with his dry food. He now cleans up his food at every meal and is starting to put on a little flesh. He's long haired, so I couldn't see it, but when I would pet him I could feel every bone of his spine and rib cage. He's starting to not feel so thin. I will keep it up until I feel he's a healthy weight for his age.

Yorker wouldn’t eat
By John on Jan 20, 2021
My Yorkie wouldn’t eat any dog food for years. I fixed him chicken, beef, and green beans for nearly 3 years. The VET told me I was killing him with this. My dog is 12. I started him on this and he is eating it everyday now. I had to put in some tough love though as far as not giving in to him when he wouldn’t eat it at first. Great choice!

Dog loves it
By MaggieAnn on Feb 7, 2021
After being sick for a month and thinking we were going to lose her, I added this to her normal food. She is 15 years old. Her appetite picked up. She eats all of this food in one sitting. She is slowly gaining her weight back on.

My picky terrier loves it !!
By Robchamp on Jan 20, 2021
I can get these tiny cans to go further by mixing just a little bit to coat her kibble. For my extremely picky older dog I just mix just a tiny bit with her kibble, moistened slightly with unsalted beef broth to make sure it gets distributed evenly onto the kibble. I love that she loves it.

Seniors with few teeth!
By PamP on Jan 9, 2021
My vet recommended this food for my two small senior rescues that had to have most of their teeth removed due to long neglect. Fortunately they are otherwise in pretty good health. One started on this food in August, 2019. The other just joined the family in October, 2020.

Finicky Chihuahuas
By Jmar on Dec 26, 2020
Our 3 15+ year old Chihuahuas are very finicky eaters. Besides 2 of them being mostly blind and all 3 being deaf, they do not have many teeth left. We had some small bite Royal Canin, but our semi-toothless pups were having trouble with the hard food. So this food works perfectly for them.
