Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

    Vet Recommended

I spent five or six months looking for a good quality food for my dog that wouldn't break my wallet. I tried probably 8 to 10 different brands and my dog rejected all of them. Finally, I asked my vet for a recommendation and he said Royal Canin. I've been using it ever since and my dog just loves it. Plus it has good quality ingredients.

    Dog doesn't like this one

    By on

We tried switching to this after coming of Royal Canin's HP Vet food since our dog gained a bit. She scarfed the HP and after switching she now just stares at me when I put this stuff down. She even walks away which I've never seen her do. Purchased a small bag of hills science diet weight control and gave her one scoop with RC's and she loved it. Now switching to science diet which was comparable to this RC in fiber, cals, etc.

We were on Royal Canin Maxi digestive dog food and my dogs loved it but one of my dogs needed to Watch his weight and I changed to this food. I was hesitant to try it because they liked the other food so much but they like it and I’m so pleased, standard poodles can be picky

We love corgis and corgis love food. So trying to keep our Camden svelte ain’t easy— we learned to love Royal Canine products while living in France and they are not only reliable but animals love Them. Now if we can just stick to his regimen our sweet corgi will be healthy. He loves this kibble. Recommend highly.

Maxi Weight - dry dog food

    By on

As we try to maintain Cali diet and weight control, we have used Royal Canin in the past. This time we tried Maxi Weight Care Dry Dog Food from Royal Canin, and Cali just has not liked this food, we will be going back to Royal Canin Weight Control Dry Dog Food that we purchased in the past, that she enjoys. I would & will recommend everyone to use Chewy. As there prices are good and there customer service surpasses, others online pet company I have used.

    Royal Canin is the best

    By on

Royal Canin Maxi Weight Care was recommended to me by a Vet who also had a Golden Doodle. This food has larger pieces which my dog really enjoys. I am currently feeding him this as his snacks also, so he is exclusively on this food. Chewy, as usual is fantastic to do business with...

    Too soon to tell

    By on

We just started our girl on this so she would lose some weight. She was on regular diet of Royal Canin so she transitioned just fine. It's still too soon to tell if she will lose weight. I will say Chewy's customer service is beyond excellent. After speaking with them and describing our issue they were very helpful and we received the Weight Care food THE NEXT DAY. Love Chewy. I hope they always are this wonderful.
