Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

  • Maxi Weight - dry dog food

    By on

As we try to maintain Cali diet and weight control, we have used Royal Canin in the past. This time we tried Maxi Weight Care Dry Dog Food from Royal Canin, and Cali just has not liked this food, we will be going back to Royal Canin Weight Control Dry Dog Food that we purchased in the past, that she enjoys. I would & will recommend everyone to use Chewy. As there prices are good and there customer service surpasses, others online pet company I have used.

  • Too soon to tell

    By on

We just started our girl on this so she would lose some weight. She was on regular diet of Royal Canin so she transitioned just fine. It's still too soon to tell if she will lose weight. I will say Chewy's customer service is beyond excellent. After speaking with them and describing our issue they were very helpful and we received the Weight Care food THE NEXT DAY. Love Chewy. I hope they always are this wonderful.

Royal Canin Maxi Weight Care was recommended to me by a Vet who also had a Golden Doodle. This food has larger pieces which my dog really enjoys. I am currently feeding him this as his snacks also, so he is exclusively on this food. Chewy, as usual is fantastic to do business with...

  • Royal Canin Dog Food

    By on

I have a giant Alaskan Malamute who has been on several different dog foods but continued to have stomach issues and bouts of gas & diarrhea. Our vet recommended for me to switch him to Royal Canin Maxi breed dog food. Since I had trouble finding it locally, I ordered it online from Chewy.com. Received the package quickly(although there were issues with bad weather at the warehouse) and my 3 year old Malamute is happy as a clam with his new food. No more throwing up, diarrhea & best of all no more gas! He is eating it without me having to add something to it & eats less of this food then all the others. It is pricey but the vet said it all works out because he eats less, has less stools, is happier I have a giant Alaskan Malamute who has been on several different dog foods but continued to have stomach issues and bouts of gas & diarrhea.
