Description

Small dogs need more than just a small kibble. They need more energy than big dogs, and they have a shorter and more intense growth period. Plus, they typically live longer than large dogs, and have a more finicky appetite. Whether we’re talking about their bodies or their lifestyle, small dogs are a little bit different from the rest of the canine world. Fortunately, Royal Canin Mini is distinctly different, too.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. • Best one yet, Royal Canin Aging formula.

    By on

Have been experimenting with foods to find one my aging dogs with failing teeth might like and may be less expensive. After many switches from one brand to another, Royal Canin is the best I've found, by far! I mix two foods together when running out of one, but have never observed the dogs having a preference. However, with Royal Canin they would separate out the two foods and highly preferred RC. The other would be left on the floor next to the bowl. My Chihuahua and Cockapoo both enjoy it. Worth the extra money.

  • Satisfied 17 yrs old mix breed!

    By on

My senior dog is a 17 yr old mix breed, miniature poodle & terrier. She has had several surgeries in her life span and most of her teeth out. She's a healthy girl otherwise! *Like the energizer bunny. I mix Royal Canin Mini Aging, with some warm water and gravy (to soften & more flavor) and this gives her the nutritional balance that she needs at her age.

  • Chewy and Royal Canin are great!

    By on

Chewy has been wonderful. Our Parson Russell Jimmy has eaten Royal Canin for 13 years. He doesn't like any other dry food. The last three times at Petsmart Royal Canin mini aging 12+ has been unavailable and even though I requested, it has not been stocked at Petsmart. We are so pleased that it can be purchased at Chewy.com.

  • Great food for an old dog

    By on

My 15 year old dog likes it. It seems to satisfy her hunger. She does not gobble like she used to. She has quit begging all the time. She is acting younger also. This food is great.

  • Great dog food

Our 10-year old Yorkie has problems with pancreatitis, so the less fat in his diet the better. I can't brag enough on your exceptional delivery, too.

  • Expensive but worth it

    By on

We started purchasing this brand for our Lhasa Apso last year. She's getting older and was having trouble eating bigger chunks of food. After she turned 12, we moving to the Mini Aging formula from the Mini Mature. She's been eating like a champ and has more pep in her step after the switch.
