Small dogs need more than just a small kibble. They need more energy than big dogs, and they have a shorter and more intense growth period. Plus, they typically live longer than large dogs, and have a more finicky appetite. Whether we’re talking about their bodies or their lifestyle, small dogs are a little bit different from the rest of the canine world. Fortunately, Royal Canin Mini is distinctly different, too.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. • Excellent Food for My Dogs

    By on

I have fed Royal Canin to my Dogs for over 5 years. My dog Pepper previous to then developed kidney problems and it was suggested she eat a therapeutic dose. it was healthier and I truly believe helped extend her life in a good way. Even though it is one of the more expensive dog foods on the market... I feel it's the healthiest nutrition i can feed my current pets. I have very few vet bills and.... it significantly produces less dog poop requiring easier and less clean up.

Ozzie is 9 years old and doesn't get the exercise he normally gets during the winter months here in Ohio.He loves his Royal Canin and did not even notice the change in the shape of his food.

  • My older dogs love it!

I’m new to the Royal Canin brand. I have 2-9 yo small breed and both of them seem to have more energy. We have used this brand for a month now and I can see a difference in both doggies.

  • Royal canin

My senior chihuahua loves this food! She's had to have multiple teeth removed and even though this is a dry food, she eats this with ease! The small kibble is great for the "littles"

  • She loves it!

    By on

Yes, she does. She is a 16 lb Jack Russell terrorist, who seemingly can almost eat her weight daily! Sort of looks like the Jack on the bag. She often eats 2 full bowls/day...she loves it that much. Fortunately she is very high energy so she doesn't balloon up at all in weight. I have read the label but that doesn't help me to know why she likes to eat it so much....I just know that she does. Royal Canin is sure doing something right!

  • Perfect food for my older Shih Tzu dogs

    By on

The shape is a flat "daisy" shape. It makes it easy for the older dogs (some missing a few teeth) to eat the kibble dry, which is of course better for cleaning their teeth than if I were to soften it with some hot broth. CHEWY has been consistently WONDERFUL as a provider for my breeding business for several years now. I think I may have had one shipping mixup early on, but it was solved with such elegance it was quickly forgotten

  • Loves it....after trying everything

    By on

My little girl loves this. I'm unsure of my shelter dog's age (at least 10) and I had resorted to feeding her chicken breasts and hamburger because she wouldn't eat any canned or dry food. Tried the "appetite stimulating" canned food by this brand too. These are great.

  • New Food for dogs

    By on

My 2 miniature pinchers are now 8 and 9. I wanted to try something new and mixed it in with the last of my previous brand. They love it. Glad I switched and that they like it. I will definitely buy it again.
