Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • Not a big hit with the crew.

I have four cats one of which has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. I'm trying to purchase food they can all eat and I thought this would be a winner. It is not. No one likes it. The chickens, however, are delighted as they get the leftovers at the end of the day.

My cats do eat this but they much prefer the dog food variety of this. I LOVE Chewy! They always give me personal service and watch my back when I make mistakes on my order.

I currently feed 12 cats including my own, fosters and strays. I have fed this food to all of them and the majority of them walk away from it and won’t eat it at all. Royal Canin is a good brand and they typically love their RC food but not this one.

My cats really like this food. Very carefully read many labels to pick a lower calorie high quality food-and this is it

  • Not so much...

Maybe our "boys" are picky but are not too crazy about this one. I don't think they like the pasty consistency. They prefer the chunks in gravy.

  • my cat loves it

My cat used to eat other brand for a long time, but one day they changed formula? or something, and the food looked somewhat different (exact same flavor though). Next day she started to have diarrhea. After having her on Royal Canin sensitive for a week, I started to feed her this, since she never had any problem with Royal Canin. No vomiting/diarrhea! She's doing well. I am not a big fan of "loaf" formula (it doesn't look appetizing to me....) but my cat really likes it.

  • It is ok for the cats who like loaf

The product is good. Not all kitties might like it, because some prefer chunks (which are available in 3oz. cans)

  • Hard to please, diabetic kitty

My 13 years old kitty Ghost, who is a diabetic, loves this food, I mix it up with some warm water, and within minutes it is gone. Thankyou, no more guessing which food he will eat today.
