Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Cats love it and it keeps them full!

    By on

My 3 cats love this canned food. It's a pate, which my cats and I both prefer. It's nice and moist so it provides my cats ample hydration. It also keeps them full and reduces begging and stealing food.

    Needs more moisture, then ok!

    By on

At first my cat would avoid eating this wet food, but I started to add about an eights part of water to it, and voila! He loves it that way! After I remove a quarter of wet food, his regular feeding portion, I add to the can about half water into the cavity of the can. I would use about teaspoon of it to mix in to current portion, and then mix the test in the can for future 3 feedings. Otherwise it's a bit dry.

    Not a taker

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I thought for sure this would be a nice change to the Spayed/Neutered Pate that Andy and Leo eat - but noooooo! Why would I have thought that after all these years with cats? lol. Strangely, or perhaps not so strangely, even the two ferals that come by for a bit of food will sniff it, and walk away to check out the mole holes. Cats! Gotta' love'm tho, right?

    Royal Canin Spayed/neutered loaf

    By on

All I can say is that our spayed cat refuses to eat this. I have even mixed a little bit of it with her favorite Royal Canin "Kitten" loaf and she still refuses to eat it at all. Frustrating because like usual I bought a carton of 24 cans.
